in this video I go over reviewing and fitting a race chip I purchased from a company in Germany and all I can say after fitting it LIVED up to its expectations I was seriously surprised the feel and kick it gave when you activate the mods STAY TUNED to find out more!!!!!

This Is the first review of doing this on a petrol car most videos are all on Diesel cars !!!!
We will be putting this car on a Dyno sometime next week to see how quick the power comes in instead of the wait and see if it’s actually better and proven

I’am from Germany. Its just a gas pedal adjustment. It doesnt give you more power, it just set earlier a higher throttle setting. In Germany most of the People dont buy it. It can save you fuel yes because its set to the optimal rpm of the car to save fuel ( change your throttle signal to the optimum)

i have this xlr throttle manager as well as the racechip gts. the xlr does nothing except make the peddle more responsive. the racechip s/gt/gts is installed under the hood and manipulates sensor readings to the ecu to make the car faster by adding torque and bhp. the xlr just gives more or less travel on the throttle peddle depending the setting you have it on. racechip even say this on their site. the xlr on its own doesnt give more power and wont show any different on a dyno. the racechip s/gt/gts will

Sorry. This looks real slow like 0-60 in 8-9 seconds in racemode+. Seems no faster than stock.

Hmm, I am curious to know how this actually alters engine performance to gain power other than simply altering the throttle pedal signal. Many years ago I tried out the BMS Powerbox for a while, and that is a considerably more complicated installation in that it has to be connected directly to the car's ECU. For those not familiar with that unit, you could select the pre programmed map via the throttle pedal with the ignition on by pressing the throttle to the floor X number of times for that specific map that you want, not as convenient as this obviously. The maps were 0 for none, then 1-3 for different throttle feel sensitivities, and 4-6 for the same different throttle feel sensitivities plus a performance gain tune. But honestly, for me the whole thing just didn't impress me one bit, sure, the throttle sensitivity increased and I found the map 2 or 5 options were fine in most cases, but it never removed the characteristic throttle delay of the drive by wire throttle control, and being a manual, that is mostly what you want to eliminate, especially if you are adding power and increasing throttle sharpness. As for the power gain, honestly couldn't say if I felt that much of a difference. I purposely left it installed for a while and tried the different maps to allow the natural placebo effect run its course before reaching my final conclusion. Not saying that this thing is a gimmick, but from what I am seeing, it looks mostly like it is just "pressing" the throttle down more that you are which will increase the acceleration, and being an automatic, shift higher up. Would be interested to see how it behaves on a manual, and the acid test would also be to do a few dyno pulls to see if the claimed gains are there as opposed to simply altering the throttle pedal sensitivity.

Mate what it does it alters your mapping throttle and the air intake BUT only if you have the 3 stage manifold WHAT I didn’t state in the video is that the mapping can be customised by your phone via BT on the app which I didn’t show in the video it can pick up which car your using this for and give you all the options so for instance like mine I can hold the disa flaps closed to get More forced air into the intake from the throttle which the computer usually opens and closes as they wish other settings include speeding up the injectors to fire the fuel faster to counter for the amount of air that you have chosen this wasn’t explained on the video and I feel quite bad about that as I didn’t explain this in the video the people I did this video for ARE NOT impressed at all about the way I did the video and made it look like a simple sprint booster BUT please bear in mind if you live in the us and Canada you cannot get this anyway as the company do not ship there as from what XLR have said to me which are a German company they DONT like the us people or there cars and will not send or do any kind of partnership they have been asked many many many times to have this sold over there to which XLR have refused I will be sending one to Nathan for his car aswell which I showed him on the phone how it all works hopefully he will do he video better then I did i will be supplying these to the Uk aswell as I’m now partnered with them to sell these BUT THEY HAVE TOLD ME NOT TO SELL IT TO THE US and that’s all honesty if I’m honest with you they told me the more they keep your cars running like shit and not giving you any gains the quicker the us will stop driving BMW’s don’t ask me why but mate XLR German brand DO NOT LIKE THE US one but trust me

Sorry I am only replying now. From what you said above, this does seem like a more flexible chip then, and the fact that you can make those kinds of changes to things like injector timing and DISA actuators is quite impressive! I'm not in the US, but I wonder if they ship to South Africa which is where I am. Keep up the good work BTW!

I don’t see how it’s possible for a pedal tuner that’s plugged into the drive by wire port to flash and remap the computer to control those Lisa valves whenever remapping is involved they usually use the OBD two port. Also I’m not sure why you would want to change the time the diesel valves actuate because over 4000 RPM you wouldn’t want them to stay closed or vice versa because how fast it’s sucking air controls those flaps thus given the best fuel mixture. So at 4000 rpm x amount of air is going through The intake manifold I don’t see how changing in the rpm that they actuate at would be beneficial for optimal rather. I still want one that video of yours made me want one but if you can really remap the EC you then you should have the capabilities of eliminating the speed limiter and if your car is manual setting the rev limiter into the 7000 or higher as your ballsy enough to go/Or usually the tuner will set the RPM to whatever your lifter springs can handle without floating

I wouldn’t do a jb4 if I was you the xlr is worth it to be honest I ain’t hardly used it since I put it on as I ain’t had the time to even drive my car much and as for dyno I been trying to allocate a slot but every time one comes up I’m always busy so it’s hard for someone to work around me and me work around them

It seems the best easily removable piggyback solution, given all the engine monitoring it does compared to most which either simply whack the boost pressure up and let thr ecu try figure it all out, or the others that have may 2 sensors.

That all depends on how you use it and how much you use it if your not gonna use it all the time then no you have to use it responsibly it’s not to be driving everywhere in sport mode mostly just use it when need be for overtaking and on open roads or from take off for traffic lights and then switch back to normal once you reach the desired speed

Those damn sharp edges. I see you've cut your finger. Question, this is a "sprint booster" right? It basically eliminates the throttle delay? Or is it actually changing the mapping?

It changes the mapping throttle and closes the disas to get more air sucked in it’s not your usual sprint booster this is a chip that talks to the ecu and is controlled by your phone you can adjust your mapping via BT And yes I cut all my fingers badly just to do a video for you guys as I had many people asking me to do this video before they bought it and I wanted to do it to help people out to know if to get it as nobody wants to waste money right ???

Hey doc not sure if you'll see this message. So I got mine today and on the Instructions it says to lock the car with the door open. But my car don't lock when the driver door is open. I drive a e60 525d. What should I do?

mate thats a load of crap did you see my video how to install I kept driver door open and never done the locks the reason they say this is to put car to sleep mode so the device doesn't wake up thats all but it wont affect nothing

No it’s not worth it at all your car will end up badly doing it without 3 stage this is the whole thing in the us you are very limited to what you can fit and what you can do the us needs to get rid of that 328 model never heard of such a car as it sounds very plain and not performance car get 530i or 330i

yes but im not aloud to say how to do it mine is coded in for faster air induction and to keep the gearbox revs for longer BUT if I say here everyone will do it that's what makes my 530i unique to everyone else we cant have everyone doing the same thing

Bmw Doctor yeah my 330Xi also has a 3 stage manifold producing 258hp from factory, 328i only has 230hp. Correct me if I'm wrong, I did watch your installation & it looks pretty easy like it's not that hard to install?

Yeah mate these are good I hardly use it if I’m honest mate I only use the eco mode in London it really does help especially on a 3.0 😂

Yes it will no different to mine just you don’t have 3 stage manifold but it will work on ALL BMWS

I got you but it would be nice to see full throttle with race chip. Then it would be easier to compare before and after having race chip. As I do own bmw e60 528i LCI model, your channel is so helpful and informative to me. Thank for your reply and hope that you would share more great videos!

Of course it will it works for all BMW’s doesn’t matter what engine or car all BMW’s have computerised throttle now from 2004 so therefore can go on any car

Too bad the xlr will not work for the e46. I know the '99-'00 has cable drive electronic throttle, but the '01-'04 e46 is a pedal position electronic throttle. Still a no for the e46. I know my e46 is cost effective to spec out again, although I think it can be brought up to a good car.
