Bob from downunder here. I just acquired a low mileage 1150 gsa with 21,000 kms. Quite a step up from my f 700 gs. It has not been ridden for four years, so there is a list of checks and cleaning before It is re-registered and made road worthy. I am a bit intimidated by the seat height , with no ability to flat-foot while stationery. I will need to go to the gym and build up my quads and so on, before I get to start riding, (and potentially having to pick it up by myself). Keep you updated.

Hi Bob Greetings from across the pond! Darn that's some awesome low miles to be starting with! Thanks for taking the time to comment that sounds like a fun project :) you can put GS Height suspension on them that's what I've got on mine I'm a 32" inseam an it makes them a bit more managable, you need to change the centre stand out for the GS Height one as well requires a modification to the side stand shackle the metal silver disk bit to do it. Mines always had gs height shocks on but I have sat on ones with the gsa height in the past. I had to do the centre stand as it hadn't been done an was impossible to get it on the stand. Flicks on super easy now infact easier than alot of lighter bikes ive had. Really easy fix though next time I'm out riding and filming I'll cover that for you :) hoping to take advantage of the quiet roads on Christmas day which is a bit of a tradition for me. The trade off is you only have the suspension travel of a 1150gs so depends what you are doing, for me though that's OK as I'm mainly road riding. You will love the boxer engine they are really effortless once you get under way (I had an f800gs in the past) Since doing all the repairs on mine I'm really growing to love riding it. One of those motorcycles as well where even when you are not out you are thinking about it :) which is always a good sign I think! I think the big thing is to practice moving them around get used to the balance point when she's off the stands good thing to practice there's some great bmw off road skills videos online which cover that practice technique. Another thing you can get is the low seat they did which drops about 40mm out of the seat height. I've not used one so not sure how comfortable they are maybe someone else will chime in :)

The weather has been rubbish hasn't it just! With my age gopro not much point in filming when it's to wet for risk of breaking it.
