I have this bike and the front suspension is hard as hell. Surprised it seems so capable off-road.

The old Norton and Indian scouts used to cane up roads worse than this in the 60's. Oh we have come to expect so much from a motorcycle and have forgotten to ride the mutha fukkr and have a ball doing it. Nice place, but get some rhythm.

On the standard suspension that ride would be a total punish. I decided on changing suspension at each end on my turban a couple of days after buying it.

Do you change ur front suspension to progressive? The original, usually didn’t do well on off road.

Have you had to pick it up yet? Does it go all the way down or only part way due to the crash guards and cylinders protruding out? By the way, if you don't come back from an ADV ride without a scratch, you weren't trying hard enough. Bike are meant to be push, not babied. Loved watching your challenging ride! ;)

I dropped it once on the grass but not on this trip and it stopped on the cylinder not entirely on its side (no scratches no damage) :) Thanks

@@gamotur So do you think it is a bit easier to pick up due to the fact that it didn't go all the way down. I'm a smaller rider and concerned about picking it up after a drop.

I have the classic r nine t and I go much faster on those dirt roads, maybe because of the better suspension at the front? I do not know, mine is 120 mm and it works well on not very broken terrain, greetings

The fact that you're going faster is probably because you're a better rider than me :) The front suspension of the R nine T Urban GS is 125mm and the rear is 140mm. Thanks for watching.

I'm doing a little research into upgrading from a Moto Guzzi Bobber to this. Would you say you could go a little faster over the cobbly/shale road with some more experience? Or did it feel like a limitation of the front suspension?

You can definitely go faster. The suspension feels a bit cheap, but it will get you where you want to go. The bike has its limitations (ground clearance is one of them), but I didn't buy it for performance. I'll probably buy another bike in the future but I will keep this one with me forever.

Looks like a good time out on the trail. I'm curious about the tires you are running, were they Karoo 3s? Do you have pros and cons about them? I run the Michelin Anakee Wild and like them a lot in the dirt, do find them at times a little squirrelly when cornering on asphalt. KTSSU

Yes they are Metzeler Karoo 3 and I do not recommend them for street use. They vibrate a lot, are loud as hell, and in the rain I don't trust them at all. When it comes to offroad they are really good. I use my bike 90% on the street, and after 5,500 miles they still looks good (50% wear). I can only compare them with Shinko 804/805 and I would choose Shinko every time. My next tires will probably be Michelin Anakee Adventure.
