Agree with the previous comment. You're not using the part of the piezo the creates a spark so there's no need to take things apart. Also, you should replace those plastic fuel QD's with metal ones before they crack. Lastly, how long did this last? When I did mine, it failed again after 1 or 2 tanks of fuel. Lucky for me, BMW has a 12 year warranty on the fuel strips. My current one has lasted about 4 years (knock on wood!).
12 year warranty? My bike is a 2007, and my fuel range is stuck on 400km. I guess recalibration or replacing needs to be done. Now it just seems I have infinite fuel haha. Should I ask BMW for warranty?

I'm doing the longer term replacement of the strip with the float, as I have time and interest. I found great RU-vid and other website info on that conversion.
