Now I want a R1250GS even more. I had never wheelied a GS before, so I was very happy that in about 15 minutes I was already comfortable bringing it up on one wheel. Thanks to my friend @alexlugo.rr for trusting me with his machine.
"Wheelies make people happy man" I'm 34 / always been riding bikes / never learned to wheelie until I got a GSA 1200 No one ever asked me to wheelie, now that I can, every person next to the road is asking me to wheelie. It's like you 'ride like you can' :D
I took my 1250GS to the track and over countless narrow mountain roads but I have to admit: i am so scared it will just flip over if i try to wheelie it. Maybe after seeing you do it, i might give it a try.
I've seen my fair share of insane GS riders. For what it is it's an insanely good bike. But the XR is very similar in it's versatility but bit more up my alley lol
I was thinking about hitting the Dynamic Pro mode and pulling some wheelies soon but thoughts of those times where I got it wrong and thought I destroyed the front forks on previous bikes haunt me. LOL. Solid vid bro.
Practice a little 2nd gear clutch up here and there until you get the feel for it and it start coming up a few inches. Then work on carrying that small wheelie longer and longer, before you know it you'll be wheelying 2nd into 3rd and more. This bike makes it effortless.
@@CubanRider Maybe I'll shoot some POV vid, give you the credit on techniques for real. Back when I rode lots of sport bikes I would just power wheelie everything, with this bike not so much.
hi, nice video, but i am curious, is the gs motor ok for sustained wheelies in terms of where the oil pick up is positioned, is there any danger of oil starvation and engine damage?
Here the builders build the roads and then the city takes over. Not a lot of people would buy houses in neighborhoods without streets. I guess we're spoiled!
I have a R1200GS and 790 Duke ironically. The Duke feels like a toy compared to the GS, it's the reason I bought it and the reason why I love it so much. The GS is much faster in the twisties that it should be!
Coming off the BMW and getting on the Duke back to back was so weird, it felt tiny. I always liked the 1200, but the engine on this 1250 is a step above, remarkable how they've improved it.
@@bazza8947 bruh you were the one initially stating the obvious as if we didnt knew theres a gigantic size difference between an 1200cc adv and an 800 naked
I really wanna power wheelie my r1200gs Rallye, but she scares me. I used to power wheelie my S1000rr, so I guess it's no different, it's just the weight of the GS that scares me
I wasn't very successful with the 1200GS, but I think I forgot to disable all T/C so the electronics were interfering. I would like to find another one and try, I'm sure it's just a good as the 1250 getting it up.
yeah, I haven't switched my electronics off properly yet, only used the rider presets, but even from a standing launch, the thing comes up a bit. I think I'll try just turning off the Trac and ABS and from 2nd gear just powering it up so it lifts and riding it out
yeah, I learned to wheelie on my s1000rr, powers and clutch ups, but not to the point of confidence that you seem to have. I'll give her a go though, she seems to want to be on her back wheel 😉
@@emilianoaguero1330 I thought the same, but it has done it other times. I’m now more used to it and I just keep the wheel slightly of the ground when I fully open the throttle. When any other bike would just stall, if you depress the clutch a little fast, this just takes off on one wheel.
@@CubanRider I have a 1250 GSA , reaching 70 mph on a second gear is a lot …maybe because yours is a regular GS it can do that but I am not sure ….I am doing smaller wheelies which is not difficult but holding it for a while is still not happening 😒
@@VAROCRO lol he literally says he's using clutch. And you can see and hear him slip the clutch. His first wheelie was a power wheelie but like he said it pops up alot faster when using clutch
Watch the tach and listen to the motor. When you hear the revs jump and come back down, that means he's slipping the clutch. You can power up the R1250GS, but the GSA with a full tank has more weight over the front, which makes it a bit harder. Both bikes are easier to clutch up in 2nd like Cuban Rider is doing here.
Nooo returnnn itttt Get the ktm1290 you won't regret it. Unless you are going to travel around the world then yes get the bmw it has more global support
@@OVER5TEER if i thought that way then I wouldn't ride harleys 😂 c'mon man the ktm1290 is hella fun. Test ride it you won't regret it. I love bmw but that boxer engine is just nah
@@JL-wf2wp I've ridden the 1290SDR and love the motor. But I literally don't have a car for commuting (5 days a week). Need reliability. KTM is a great weekend toy though.
@@OVER5TEER i would ride it everyday 😈 and I don't think they're that bad, after all they have the rc8 motor in it they're pretty good. Anyways the bmw is not bad at all either, hope you enjoy it a lot and have great times with!
