I’m in the minority that actually thinks the headlight looks great… I hated the asymmetrical headlight of the prior gen

Great review, you should test ride a superduke when you get a chance, that thing is insane. Makes all the other supernakeds feel 'sedate' Not nearly as light as the s1000, but MUCH more torque, a lot more character, but not refined at all. Lots of fun though.

I hear the 2024 EVO is insane. If I only had unlimited $ and space. 😁

do you think this is a viable purchase for a first time rider?

Great thorough review - I'm also very much interested in buying an S1000R. My gripe with the S1000XR however, which has the same engine, was its unwillingness to quickly and effortlessly launch from a standstill though; it felt like you really had to apply a lot of gas and slowly release the clutch in order to not stall it. How does your S1000R behave in that regard? I want to be able to quickly launch it at a traffic light :> Maybe an ECU tune and shorter gearing would help. Thank you for your input!

Yes, yes, yes! You hit the nail on the head. It takes a lot of throttle and a lot of feathering of the clutch. I suspect little low rpm torque is the culprit. I'd like to see a tq/hp graph 📈. It has launch control which I've never tried. In comparison the V2 rips off the line with less feathering. Don't get me wrong, if you get it wrong, it will die too. On the plus side, the R has endless pull on the mid to upper rpm. I can only imagine what the RR does! Since we're on the power band subject, I've been toying with putting the V2 back on the street and getting a R6 for the track. I've got a line on a race prepped 2008. I know the guy and know it is done right. What do you think?

@@scottsgaragehtx439 Thanks for the confirmation, maybe a lower sprocket will resolve this issue. I'm not a big fan of screamer 600cc supersport bikes but the R6 sure looks nice ;)

@ 2:50- if someone push you from the bike, they can ride away with that key still in your pocket :) :) :) - this stupid bmw feature lets thieves steal cars, because you don't need key to ride- you only need key to start , and you can ride without it !!!!!!! once i drove my car 50 miles away just to stop at petrol station to realise i left key in my jacket at home, so i left stranded there for good few hours before rescue came :) :) :)

No worries. 6'2" 215lbs. Going to see my Ohlins suspension guy Thursday to tune the Ducati and T6 (stiffer front and rear springs) for my weight. Oh, big news on the BMW (I will do an episode on it soon), but the top end blew up! Apparently, there is a rocker arm recall and it went bang as I was riding about 95mph. Luckily it's covered under the recall and I'm supposed to get it back tomorrow. If you get a 2022, make sure it has the recall fix. 😳

One question I have is how it compares to the panigale v2 you own. As it relates to street use I mean. Which do you prefer since they’re pretty close in terms of price and comparable on power. Thanks for the videos!
@scottsgaragehtx439
@scottsgaragehtx439 9 месяцев назад
Hello, thanks for watching. For street? If you have a short (20 minute) commute (maybe with a combination of stop lights, b roads and hw) the Ducati is more fun. It's better off the line and easier to "throw down" on initial tip in (or initial lean). I can only take an 1 1/2 hours on the Ducati before my knees revolt. The BMW, I can go 3 hours. Neither are cruisers. lol. Having said those things, over all I would choose the BMW for the street. It's still stupid fast (similar power to weight ratios), once you get it to start its lean in a corner it's much like the Ducati. It has grip warmers to extend your riding season, just as many selectable nannies, cruise control, navigation, sounds great with the aftermarket exhaust, and I love making the last turn coming home and pulling a stinky wheelie. Oh, the BMW brakes have no problem while on the street. No fade. I wouldn't know about them on the track though. I hope this helps.

@@scottsgaragehtx439 thank you for the detailed reply, I’ve heard some say that the bmw can be a bit boring until you really start to push and that’s where it comes to life. I’ve also been considering a Ktm super duke r evo since they have good deals on them locally (cheaper than the bmw and the Ducati) and based on reviews people love riding that thing. Might be a bit much for me though!

@@MrWallexxx I've heard people really like the KTM. I think it has better breaks too. Plus, you would have a unique bike. Lots of people overlook the KTM.

Went over the specs of the bike and competitors. Test ride the bike Showed you the cons in my POV. I’d say thanks for watching, but I don’t think you did that b
