I'm also disappointed about AD09 performance on my lexus ISF .Following all other review I thought these were faster than my previous setup Ps4s star marked but unfortunately not as I expected from Yokohama tires!!
Yeah it’s disappointing. All 4 of mine have cracked across the tyre, poor quality. Lap times after first heat cycle are no quicker than the old AD08 but the AD08 didn’t crack.
Excuse the odd question, but can I use your experience and ask other than Thruxton, which track/ trackday organiser are open to some safe powersliding ? And which are to avoid like the plague ? I'm from the continent so dont have my markers yet 🙏
Sorry for late reply, afraid I didn’t see this! Thruxton is one of the only tracks in UK that allows some fun, most UK tracks are owned by MSV and they have very strict drifting policies. Independent circuits like Blyton park, Lydden hill and castle Combe are more tolerant 👍
Thank you 🙏 The car runs camber plates, 3deg front/2deg rear, B16 shocks, EBC RPX pads and a Litchfield map with stock engine/exhaust. Tyres would last for ages in these conditions but were already quite dead. I wanted to finish them off but they’re still ok.
Thanks. I love the way your cars seem to have good front end grip so you can back it in. Thinking about m4 for track also as last trackday at thrux I did 2 sets of rear in just the morning. Only really lighting them up in the chicane. This is a c63 so probably a good 3-400kg heavier. I was considering m140, then decided 981 boxster or m4.
Good effort 👏👏😂 M4 is such a good track car as you have all the right ingredients out the box. All you need is camber and pads, then you can lap until it runs out of fuel. Or tyres 😂 They won’t overheat, you don’t have to worry about oil surge and despite its weight it’s actually not expensive to track as it doesn’t need any mods. I’ve done probably 15k track miles in mine and it’s never gone wrong. They did such a good job with F8X. 140 also great but cooling and oil surge not as good. Not as much power either. There’s not much difference in cost to buy so F8X no brainer.
So, you're starting to like the AD09 a bit more? I'm so indecisive about AD09 or A052, AR-1 or even CUP 2...I recently spoke to someone that was running A052 in their F8X with stock rims and told me they lasted only 50 laps (2 trackdays) and a bit of road driving that seemed way too much for me as my current of cheap semislicks has lasted me 6 trackdays!
Afraid not. They are good in the wet though. If you watch my review vid you’ll see a picture of the cracking on the front left. All 4 tyres are doing this now. Your reports of A052 wear are correct, but they are fast. It all depends what you want from the tyre. Lap time? Life? Wet grip? Cost? Personally, as a balance of all the above I think the star marked cup 2 from the M2 are great so long as you have enough camber. I get them used but nearly new. So much cheaper and last ages. And are fast 👌
@@samellio Yeah I just want to buy more premium semis for track but am not really crazy about laptimes, just want to lap and see my own improvement in times, so I guess the same as you a mix of all would be my choice. What do you consider enough camber? - 2,8/-3 in the front? Also cup 2 star marked are better than the new cup 2 connects? They are supposed to be an improvement over the normal cup 2's
@@alexoehler1I think -3 minimum front. Rear about -2 is as much as you can get with stock arms. I’ve run this for years but it’s not enough for me. I think I’ll probably try 3.75 front then once I have rear arms about 3 rear. Cup 2 come in so many different varieties. The only ones I know are good are the 245/265 star marked from M2. Don’t worry they’re smaller, they’ll be much quicker than a generic cup 2 in much bigger sizes. They also make star marked connect versions in M2 sizes, I’ve used these as well but other than the option to run the sensors for temp and pressure (which M3/4 don’t need if you still have TPMS) I’m not sure there’s much difference. In UK you usually pay around 5-600 for a basically new set of M2 cup 2.
@Chris18445 fbook/ebay. The only ones that are quick are the star marked cup 2, can usually find them from M2 owners that want a more road biased tyre 👍
