BMW Service - R850R / R1100R - Headlamp bulb replacement 

Easier than doing the bulbs on my 2009 RT. Have to do them blind with one hand. I finally put LEDs in. The plastic connectors got baked and brittle on mine too. Replaced them with ceramic connectors.

My 1997 R1100RS was a bit more difficult to access from behind. Headlight is integrated into an upper fairing. Also, low was out and I went straight to bulb. After replacement, lo beam was still out! Went back to switch and found it full of dirt. Little disassembly, not total, brushed it, poked a little with pick, sprayed with cleaner and with compressed air. Lo beam works.

I can hardly believe that BMW didn't make it sooooo much more complicated and awkward, ONLY one screw !!!! shock :)

Hi Chris, you mentioned a while back I could change the valve stem seals on my R1150GS without removing the head. I am upgrading the pushrods to the solid type so I was considering doing the seals at the same time. What valve spring compressor would you recommend? Thanks

The same process for the K75 basic.

Is dielectric grease insulating or conducting? You want to avoid getting it on the connectors or the connector will make contact metal on metal through the grease?

Is it worth getting a LED replacement? For example J.W. Speaker makes a 7" reflector, Lens and LEDs all in a sealed unit. Is this a worth while upgrade or is it better to just replace with same old standard halogen light bulb?

Just did that same job this morning as fate has it. though was a bit stingy with the dielectric grease. Ill pop the lens tomorrow and hit it with a bit more. especially the Eva wire.
