I have to agree with him here. On my E46 resetting the Adaptation with the tool would often only serve as a temporary fix before it would return. Resetting the throttle using this method has given me better results over the last three years. Using the tool I would have to reset my car a minimum of once per month. Using this method I get about a year out out of it(ish). Not sure why. This is my experience with my BMW. Your mileage may vary… EDIT: Sometimes the Adaptation using the tool was so frequent I would simply drive with the tool plugged in all the time and would drape the cord over the steering wheel. …BMW lyfe.
Million thanks brother. I was playing with Protool on my x5 e70 and I had the same problem after clearing engine adaptations. I tried your way. Problem solved within seconds and my heart is back in my chest 😊😊😊
So I’ve forget out over a hundred squid for a new maf which is coming from Berlin. Not yet arrived. My idle was stuck at 1200rpm and car spluttering all over the place. Saw this clip by chance and gave it a go. Too me all of 5 mins and my car has come back to life !! Thank you sooooo much. I just wish I could locate a diagram as to where my sensor will be to spray it on my bmw s1 120d MSport
yooo, I fix my alternator and a brand new battery and it dint wanna accelerate until I saw your video and it workkkk !!!! THANCK Y0U;;;; I HAVE A 2003 M3 I HAPPY NOW !!!! THANCK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!
Hey I'm sorry to say mine does not resolve with whatever you mention? Oh, I got a red service light that comes on in the middle of the dash I get the beeping noise that you had on yours???
Bout to do it… but one thing most people don’t clarify, do you push the pedal all the way to the floor including the button at the end, or just up to the extra button… might be a stupid question but always wondered what that even does!?🤔😬 lol
Thanx, i had the p2620 fault code on my E53 X5. I tried your fix it with your method, but it didnt work. So i then went to look at the sensor and when i removed the plug it seemed to come off too easy. I put it back on again and thought i had pushed it on further than before. Put my obd reader on and erased the code and would you believe, fault code gone !!!
E81 116i Driver Here. My Problem was that i reset the Adaptations bcs the car was running bad and every time i turned it on it would give me Check engine light and the idle would wiggle between 1.2-1.5 k. This helped a lot thanks.
Waoo Amazing. I have a 2009 X5. I have an engine light with P0012 and P0015 however I saw this video and did the reset and now it has more power it is actually taking off the way it should, before it was feeling very heavy.
Just want to say thanks, this video helped me solved my problem ! Had idles and couldn't drive the car other then side to side for street cleaning while jumping the car with Noco (battery pack). So do to the poor battery maintenance seems it locked the throttle and have to be rest.
Thanks!!! Battery died and after replacing it car was in limp mode with p0123 error. Tried resetting it with my car soft obd2 but that didn’t help… this resolved it though
Wauwww only if I knew earlier... I had my flywheel replaced and the mechanic checked the sparkplugs and stuff. After that my car always stalled when I hit the brakes, so the garages was trying to correct the values of the gas valves by them self. Had to bring the car back like 4 times. Mij car (bmw e87 118i post facelift) was after the 4th time not perfect but drivable. But then tonight that warning light showed up and my car was shaking like crazy. I found this video en the problem is gone!!!! And my car drives like heaven 😂 THANK YOU!! I need to learn more of these tricks. BMW has too many. 😅😅 Can you show how to fix your bmw if you get a warning light that active steering/power steering is disabled after starting your car. BC I got a whole new steering house for that problem but now I think that there was a very cheap and easy way of fixing that problem... And can you show us how to get air out of your cooling system.
If the codes come back then you should definitely look into the issue further. Get the exact codes using Carly or Protool so you know exactly what to replace. Sometimes its just a vacuum leak so rather figure out what is wrong before replacing parts.
@@darknemesis901 have the codes come back since you did the steps in the video? If they don't then you're good. If so, I'd start by looking at the engine harness to find issues like shorts or exposed wires. It could be the throttle body but also can be the harness itself has gone bad.
I'm not sure how soon you can reply back to me but I need to know something as soon as possible? I'm going to try your ad temptation scenario that you mentioned so that I can see if it will remove my check engine light I got the p-zero 12 are and I also had one previous to this which was something correlation between the crank sensor and the camshaft sensors which I tried replacing but did not resolve the problem so I put the original BMW sensors back in and what I read online was the video Siemens and original BMW sensors are probably the only ones that will work properly in the engine? Anyway I hope he can get back to me and let me know I could not restart or start my engine after I did a valve cover gasket replacement this is when this problem cropped up? I had nothing to do with any sensors of anything of any sort I got the new gasket in took a couple days to get it right get the gasket to where it's at the flat in the cover overnight and finally got it installed and sinks down, I had to order a torque wrench that went down to 503 Newton very low settings, anyway not to get sidetracked, anyway I'm going to try this procedure and see if it will get rid of the check engine light as well as the pzero 12 error and will allow the engine to start when I crank it over where it's beforehand it was not starting after I did this replacement?
This method wont really cause any further problems. Its simply removes are stored adaptations so if you've replaced a few sensors or if you're noticing throttle body related codes or if you noticed your car is down on throttle response, this will definitely clear those issues and help. You should also in your case check the oil filter cannister to make sure its not damaged in any way and both o rings are set correctly. Somtimes those cause issues with oil starvation to the solenoids and can cause that p0012 fault code.
hello. I understand that the video is old, but maybe you can help me. I bought an e90 with an android device like yours. and it is not properly connected. because after a couple of days the battery is dead
You'll have to cut open the wiring harness that came with the headunit. You'll see 2 plugs when you remove the headunit. Unplug and remove both and check if they're connected to the right pins. Otherwise, see if the vendor sells another wiring kit.
You're safe my butt I don't even know how the hell my car is even capable of doing this since it's a 2000 e46 but somehow I turned on my car I had to check engine light and EML light and the DSC warning light and when I did your fix it fixed everything I'm surprised
Anyway to get back with you, I downloaded protool but will that interface with the Bluetooth on board the vehicle or do I have to have a Bluetooth odbc2 plug in order to connect to the vehicle diagnostic?
You will need to either buy the protool bluetooth dongle and attach it to the obd2 port or you can buy the obd2 to usb cable and connect direcly to your phone
Hi, please help, j7st changed my alternator on e87 2005 model 116i, 2d03 error code reads throttle valve actuator, did the adaptation but still losing power with orange lights coming on ?
I believe the throttle valve requires a different adaptation. Is your alternator charging the battery at the correct rate? I've seen cases in BMWs where if the battery is not holding the correct charge then some sensors act up. Start there to confirm and then also you'll find a different procudure for your exact error.
Hi , thanks I think the battery is charging well, some guy checked it before alternator was changed, brake sensors were faulty and changed them on Tuesday 13 April, error came up saying something like DSC availability etc , which was cleared and cars not come up with any issues so far after doing 70 miles on and off. Can brake sensors trigger dash orange lights ?@@6ixgarage
Dcs lights will come on if the abs sensors are faulty. Common issue with a lot of cars in general becuase they're located right behind the brakes and get ruined from rain, snow etc. They wont trigger engine lights but dsc and abs lights for sure
@@6ixgarage anyway, been driving for a few days still no issues let’s hope it stays like this, looks like the change of alternator -the guy did something to connections to trigger lights, so far so good.
Please help, mechanic can't solve the problem, when I press the throttle the car engine stalls( not move or respond) untill around 30 seconds later that's when it starts moving, how do I solve this,no engine light or anything, it's bmw e90 (facelift) with n46 engine
Sounds like your fuel pump is on its way out. Before replacing any parts, its worth scanning your car to see if there are codes. If there arent any, you should use a shop grade scanner and check if all the parameters are within specifications like checking your throttle pedal to see if it responds quick, check to see fuel amount the pump is outputting and all. It'll help with the diagnosis
No problem! Also check your coil packs, they could be causing this too. Based on what you're experiencing, I suspect the fuel pump more but it's possible its the coil packs too. Hope you tried that steps in the video before you go and replace parts. Keep me posted on how it goes 🙂
Hi. I need help please? I drive a 2006/7 E91 320i N46 Engine. I had my starter motor repaired, and ever since then, my car will not pick up revs. Scanner shows Code 2CF8 and 2CF9 (( Throttle harness). We took out the harness but everything seems fine. No broken wires or anything. Can anybody please advise on what might be wrong? Thanx all.
Is it possible for your throttle response to go to shit if you don’t do this after a fuel pump being changed? And if so can it be fixed by doing this after a few thousand miles?
This will help your throttle reset to factory settings so if you're having laggy throttle response, its definitely worth a try. Although I've never heard that after a fuel pump change, throttle response went down. There's no harm in doing this regardless to see if it'll help.
My throttle body harness sepewrqted tried this and no luck looks like I’ll be dealing with electrical repair it doesn’t pull codes up only pulls misfire codes
After I reset the throttle body, does it matter if I drive in automatic or sport mode? I’m always driving in sport mode but wanted to know if it matters after the reset
I will never understand why people make excessively long videos for 5min fix repeating themselves 800 times. Get on with it 🤣 That said good info generally speaking.
Cool video but does it work the same on Diesel? I got x5 35 D and getting code P2621 Throttle position , output circuit low / P2620 - Throttle Position Output Circuit/Open
1 Place key in ignition and turn to detent 1 and count for 10 seconds ( only position 1 do not start the engine. ) 2.Turn key back to 0 position and count for another 10 seconds 3.Now turn the key all the way to detent 3 to start the engine
I mistakenly did an adaptation reset with inpa on my 2005 130i without plugging the valvetronic motor back in and had these codes that wouldn't go away no matter how i reset the adaptations and erased the codes after plugging it back in. This operation saved me a trip to the garage as it fixed everything! Many thanks, friend!
It doesn’t hurt to try because there’s no harm in it. What I think you need is a new pedal assembly or check the pins of the connector that goes to the pedal. Sometimes the pin bends so the connection isn’t there.
@@6ixgarage I tried it and my valvetronic kicked out completely 😅So just bought a new pedal and hopefully I can get the valvetronic sorted today or tomorrow
Works for both, only difference is that it doesn't apply to the transmission as you're choosing the timing of the gear change. The throttle body will still be reset
My car actually started feeling weird after I’ve done this process days ago, now it’s throwing up these codes and doing that doesn’t fix. Does someone know what can I do? The car was completely fine before doing this procedure. Now gives me all the codes related to Throttle body. Thanks
Hi, the process applies to both manual and auto trans so give it a shot and erase any engine light codes and then drive it around. Maybe it'll fix your problem :)
Bruh ima try this in the morning🤔 i replaced my vanos solenoids both my camshaft timin an exhaust solenoids along with my boost solenoids an its still putting me in limp mode🥺
@@boost7236 no my friend it didnt work, but mu dmtl pump is broken i just got my new pump in today i just gotta put it on now. one code is "002DED" an the second code is "p0012" so i replaced both my vanos soleniods, my camshaft an exhaust vanos but im still getting that p0012 code. so now im replacing my camshaft position sensor hopefully that helps, my dmtl pump just got here today so ima replace that too. hopefully that helps
It doesnt hurt to try but a low voltage circuit could be due to either some sensor issue or your battery is on its way out. Either way, the process to do the throttle reset is the same for the f30 so give it a try. You never know, it might fix it for free :)
@@6ixgarage Can you help me I got code P110D and replaced throttle used the code was gone but came back after a white and the same code why? throttle should be good and the car runs well what happens? BMW 1 serie 118i 06 modell.
@@6ixgarage yes okey you fix not work, but it says code P110D not found inn database and code 2CF8 inn bmw category. So what now? Change trottly body? Clean the wiring and the code will be gone?
Generally with any code, if the problem still exists the code will return after reset. Definitely worth cleaning or replacing the maf if the code returns
@@6ixgarage thank you sir, i want to ask you some question. I found out from another youtube channel for an indication that the maf was damaged if the MAF's socket cable was removed, the car's engine was still running. (Its assumed that maf sensor broken) So I've replaced it with a new one but the condition remains the same if the socket is removed the car engine still turns on... currently the dashboard has no indication of the code. the question is how to ensure that my new maf sensor function is running well?
@@lisandra1957 generally if you drive for 30kms and no codes appear in the scan, then the issue is resolved. I’d suggest using a scanner like Carly or protool which could help with a deep scan. If any codes return, let me know
Thanks, I really appreciate it. Please consider subscribing to my channel. I havs videos on how to repair and paint bumpers too which may help you out!
Doe sthis work an e70 X5. Mine has been giving me throttle body codes since Monday. I reset using an autophix scan tool, but it came back this morning, will try tho hope it works, and I dont get a "Check Engine" mine gets Engine Malfunction and goes limp which sucks.
@@6ixgarage ok so not sure. I just did it twice, and 1 time I didn't let it sit for 2-3 mins or so. 2nd time I did for longer than that. That being said 1st time it acted up again, 2nd time no. So well see what happens thanks for tips and advice very much appreciated
I got a p112e code and im bone stock and never race anybody know why that could be? I cleaned both my maf a tmap sensors and changed the oil. Also the oil reads below max a quarter below and i just put 7qts. /:
@@6ixgarage it worked i cleaned both sensors again and reinstalled my charge pipes and the check engine light went away and the engine is reading correct oil level (max) thank you! But my idle is a little wierd on nuetral (driving) and when i park
Hi you can try but to be honest I think you have vanos issues. Likely one of a many possible causes for those 2 codes. I'll be making another video about those codes specifically soon but until then please try cleaning your vanos solenoids. If that fixes your problem, you're lucky. If not, you potentially have bad solenoids or you can have broken bolts on the vanos unit which is very common. If your car is less that 10 years from the date it was first put on the road, BMW should be able to cover the repair but you need to call your local dealer to confirm.
Any vacuum leaks? Is the throttle body all gunked up? If those things are OK then he needs to check the pressure sensor transmitted values using a pressure transducer, and then the throttle angle in degrees vs. voltage signal. There's a problem there somewhere.
@@6ixgarage this code just came after i had my oil presure sensor and collent pipes and reservoir replaced until then it was all good! After this replacement i am still losing collent too
Confirm that you connected everything correctly and at the same time check for vacuum leaks. I think while things were being replaced, a vacuum line was damaged. The other option I could think of is the throttle body just being really dirty. I would tell you to change the MAF but only if the code is for both banks.
I would address the issue. Get a proper throttle body cleaner spray. They're readily available at all parts stores and even Walmart. Then clear the codes and do the throttle body reset in my video and go for a drive
Its possible but I think that's more related to a vacuum leak. I think you should check the vacuum lines that are under the intake. There should be 1 big one that's a quick disconnect that usually people have trouble with.
@@6ixgarage ok thanks for replaying bro , I have an n54 just upgraded turbos along with other goodies and maintenance, since I finished the job it’s been 2 weeks and car has been running super smooth boost fine and everything no codes but just couple days ago I was cruising and suddenly did a hard pull , after that pull I got misfires and multiple cylinders and throttle codes along with the code 2D09 i cleared the codes and the only code that’s keeps coming back is that 2D2E ,
@@6ixgarage right now I tried swapping the map sensor on top of the manifold and that didn’t work but now I’m just only getting misfires and fuel mixture codes , my exhaust is spitting black liquid from both tips and smells like fuel , could it just be injectors that is causing all these symptoms? They are index 11s and they were installed and coded over a year ago
I really don't understand why German automobile engineers would built spectacular car bodies, interiors and good suspension but fail dismally to built reliable engines. BMW and Benz are rated junk if you understand what it means by the world most unreliable cars. Every part start to break after 100k miles. This is completely disappointing for cars which are overhyped and overrated brands.
I couldn’t agree with that at all. There’s bad models/ engines from every manufacturer. Yes bmw have been known to make less reliable engines in the past but certainly have improved over time. For context, the n52 in the 328s are great little engines, not focused on power or anything. There are bulletproof diesel engines made by both BMW and VW which people drive over 700k. Performance engines do have a lot more load which reduces overall reliability. Do you think a turbo 1.5 from Honda will outlast a new k24 non turbo…highly doubt it…but that’s a consequence of trying to add performance and also improve efficiency.
@@pakirocks1 also check the wiring. You can also remove the plug for thr sensor for 2 minutes, plug it back in and then try the reset method in the video before you go and buy another one. Let me know if that resolves it
This doesn't work he tells you to keep your foot on the break and press the start button. In doing that it turns the.car.on . He needs to explain correctly because when you have your foot on the peddle it will turn on. Smdh
