I did a new sound system in my 2004 X3 last summer, because the amplifiers are known to go bad and are very expensive to replace, the whole time I was saying out loud "there's still bolts under the handle trim!" lol

I really hope you have installed beck the door holes cover well and glue it on place especially on bottom side. Else you do have a water leak from this door. You can use hot air gun for to glue it better. Common problem for E83 after intervention on the doors.

Very cool! Just had the same problem in my E83 X3 from 04/2004, because the white plastic part which moves the window plate broke in two parts.. Followed Your tutorial and now it's fixed :) Thanks a lot, buddy! Btw, the official BMW workshop wanted over 250 Euros for this..

I highly suggest replacing the glue / butyl tape that holds the vapor barrier to the door while you're in there. I know on the E46 you can get leaks inside the car from water running down inside and leaking past the barrier and into the car. I got a used E46 and all of the doors were leaking in this manner so I replaced all of the vapor barriers (they were torn up from prior window regulator replacements from the previous owner and removed and replaced all the sealer with 3M 08611 Window-Weld 5/16" x 15' Round Ribbon Sealer. No more leaks after and the car has been bone dry.

I literally just used a heat gun to get the existing glue nice and malleable. Worked well. I ripped the vapor barrier a half dozen times removing it, but fk it.

fyi, if the motor is running it is likely the metal wire has severed the plastic guide plastic clip only. So you need only replace the plastic guide clip to fix. (2004 e83)

Man I wish I could find a channel like you for the F3X series, I'm interested in how work is done on a modern BMW

Nah, I was looking at E46 M3s but they're to old and with all they're issues I don't feel like dealing with them. I'm interested in 435i now.

TheMidnightNarwhal seems like you only want newer shit, well let me remind you that if they break you won't have much help on the repair because theirs not many diys available n parts will cost a fortune too, so there's a downside to owning the newer f30s and f10, plus no more na straight six so that's not very fun on a 4 cylinder turbocharger
@JackRR15
@JackRR15 6 лет назад
Yeah but older cars in E46 territory, all the rubber and plastic is birttle, you blow on it it breaks, the E46 M3 has so many issues, I figured I would go with a newer car and warranty for 3 years and see. It's still a straight six turbo charged car, the 435i.

TheMidnightNarwhal well your kind of rowing your own boat because once your warenty is up not only are you going to lose in depreciation but will pay for repairs out of pocket, at least on the older ones you can buy em cheap n fix them up cheap but the new ones are fun I won't lie but everything comes with a price so you gotta pay to play

This is a great old video but of course the last 2minutes of the video are what I'm struggling with. All the plastic standoffs with clips came unglued from the door panel, including the big top plastic bit. This is where the video ended! lol

One day I pulled driver side door handle and the hook inside broke off, so handle was no use anymore. Welp, proceeded to open the door from inside and when I did it I heard some cracking noises and door didn't stay open anymore.. It was summer with + outside, so I didn't really expect that to happen, more so those two things at the same time. Now it's always fun when anybody tries to open my door and has that wtf face afterward lol. As far as I know coupes are prone to this door holder thing failure, so if you'll find one with this problem the video would be great. I've tried looking at it with angry face, but it didn't fix itself LOL

nice instructional, but without replacing the inner door seal water will get into the cabin - very common for them to fail.

I have a 2001 e46 325 convertible and the factory window regulator on my passenger door has finally given out. I have priced the BMW part at around $500. I would consider a less expensive OEM aftermarket part but can’t seem to identify a good one among the various brands. And many seem to be junk. Can you recommend an aftermarket brand or am I stuck buying the expensive BMW part? Any options I may have overlooked? Thanks for the advice.

FYI, www.1aauto.com/ has lifetime guarantee, never by a second regulator. I had a drivers regulator on X5 2001 and shipped me a new one and returned in same box. They seem to be lasting longer than OEM as well.
