service manual on my 2011 335i says do not hold onto 12pt nut, it will damage the diff. Supposed to put a pry bar through the u-joint at the center universal to keep it from rotating. Then only torque on the smaller 6pt nut clockwise as you face rearward. Thank you for showing this apart, I appreciate seeing what it is I'm working on. Much appreciated!

Unless the differential is trashed you are removing it okay. If you are re-using the differential you are likely to ruin the differential. You are not supposed to use the double angle nut as a counterweight support like the video shows how is being done. Instead hold the driveshaft with counterweight support. I used a 16” heavy duty wrench on the nut, a 1 ton Harrington LB010 secured to the lower swingarm. 1/4 turn at a time….

Hi, After the counterclockwise removing the shaft, Did you also replace the rear differential seal by moving the BIG NUT and smaller nut together ‘counter-clockwise?’ I believe there is a rear differential seal there?
