This is really useful to get a sense of the work involved to get to all these areas. I've had a slow oil pan gasket leak for 5 years, and engine vibration at idle that's slowly gotten worse, so it might be worth the effort to be able to change the motor mounts. If the main specialty tool needed is the engine support bar, for a hundred bucks or so, that's not too bad! Probably best to have this inside a garage, I guess, not outside on a driveway, huh?
I've got a 2003 BMW X5 3.0 with 159K miles on it. WTF is up with BMW seals? First it was the rear main seal, $900. valve cover replacement, $600. engine oil pan $2K. I've never owned an American made vehicle with so many problems due to leaks. And the real punch in the gut was the freaking transmission went out with 155K miles which cost $5K. And yet I love my X5. I usually buy my parts on line to save big bucks and then take it to a great European car mechanic. He's not cheap but he's better than the dealership.
Sheep Dog Before your trans went out can you tell me your symptoms previous to the fail? And did you change trans fluid at all? I heard not to change fluid at 100k miles
Where did you get that lift? I have a 2002 x5 with 345k miles, it’s leaking oil and it’s time to replace my lower gaskets too. Maybe I can get another 100k out of this M54...
for not knowing what I'm doing ,no leaks and no problems .saved thousands $$$$$ .I hope this helps someone else so they can save some money compared to getting bent over at a shop
tree wang you did great bud I'm just talking shit but it's easier to place the on the bottom with a piece of wood large enough to support k frame & and unbolt a arms & mounts & etc & once unbolted just lower the jack & frame is down. But OVERALL GREAT VIDEO 👍
