I just bought a 2017 X5M and wouldn't trade it for the world! Nothing out there comes close pound for pound. The Range Rover Sport SVR probably is the next best option in my opinion....
Nice review! People think 'OK it's a powerful performance SUV but as you clearly defined it's SOOO much more than that. The driving road feel is something that instills confidence when driving at the upper limit.
Would have been great if, instead of cutting to stock track footage that is available via BMW, that you could dig into the features of the vehicle if you're just going to be putting around town in the review. Like the storage capacity, electronics, features, etc.
I don't understand how people can never give Cadillac credit for anything when it's clear that they've improved over time and continue to do better and better. They are the only American brand that can truly compete and in some cases surpass the Germans. I have a BMW E36 M3 and it has been going strong for a long time and continues to do so. I have driven recent Cadillac V models specifically and I have been blown away at how great they handle and perform. I just have to give credit where credit is due great job Cadillac keep up the work. I will be buying another car very soon and Cadillac will definitely be on my list. The X5 in my opinion is really not a good all around choice. If I want a vehicle I can tow a boat with and truly go off-roading I'll take my business to Range Rover.
Demy E We never said that Cadillac didn't improve they did and i love the CTS-V but what we are against is people who said there better than BMW when they aren't BMW been doing it's sports car/ Luxury cars from along time and Cadillac isn't as good as BMW
American made Tesla P100D is roughly the same price as this X5 M, and the BMW doesn't stand a chance in a drag race even if the Tesla was pulling a trailer with an X5M in it.
Nothing wrong with a BMW. But a BMW suv is not a track car like the video is trying to make it out to be. You can only do so much with an SUV. It'll never perform like a proper sports car on the track. We're talking about this video applauding the X5's prowess on the track when in fact there are plenty of cars costing much less than the X5 M that perform much better on the track. You can love the German SUV as much as you want, but that doesn't make it a performer on the track. Considering it costs a staggering 100+ K, there are cars that offer much better value out there.
EDDY SENG Two twin scrolls I do believe. So yes it is a twin turbo. The motor is the N63tu I’m pretty sure. Massive power. The sound is amazing. Don’t let anyone tell you different.
I have a 2015 Srt jeep and have been tossing the idea around between an x5 m or a lightly used Audi rs7. I realize completely different platforms. I've done 0-60 in 4.2 seconds in my jeep in ice cold air and I ran against an x5m and after 30 mph I got raped. This suv is incredibly fast. I trapped 103.5 mph in the quarter where as these go north of 112. Huge huge difference. Hemi 6.4 l is balls out of the hole no doubt. That huge NA power and torque hit hard off the line but once these turbos force feed that 4.4l I got walked bad. Is it worth 50 grand more than my jeep. I'm still debating this . Great video. On a side note caddys also aren't over a hundred grand so I don't quite get the caddy bashing here.
westy44cal No bro, simple bolt on upgrades will nicely increase the performance of your jeep, Cold air intake, headers, exhaust and a good tune is an easy 50hp gain, let alone of you supercharge. Even with those upgrades it's still cheaper than paying all that money for those high maintenance german pieces of shit
westy44cal I just went from a 2012 Jeep srt to an f10 M5. Same platform I believe. More power for sure! The srt is no slouch. The x5M is about 25% above the Jeep in terms of performance and quality. Worth the extra cash if you have it.
For roughly the same price you can get the top of the food chain Tesla P100D. 2.5 sec to 60 mph, is in a different time zone than the 4.? this X5 M can do. Well, one thing you don't get with the Tesla is all that engine noise.
x5m will murder that car around a track. the acceleration is just a dumb party trick only good for off the line. put it on a rolling start and a base carerra will pull away immediately.
not arguing with the track part vs the Tesla, but if I buy a car I plan to take to the track, the last thing I'm gonna get is an SUV. By design you can only do so much with it. For the 100k+ price there are at least 100 cars that will man handle the X5 M on the track. That includes M cars from BMW and the likes of the Nissan GTR and plenty of others from Porsche and so on. For that price, the X5 M is not the top of the food chain in anything including the track. And there are cars at half the price that will give it a run for it's money in 0 to 60. Half the price!!
A JGC SRT is almost as fast and can go further off road. The 1 sec faster time in a 1/4 mile for the X5M isn't worth the extra 50 grand. I'd rather add it to my kids college fund or invest in my business. And if money is no object, I'd get a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S and simply destroy the X5M on/offroad.
Actually I have the f10 M5 which has the same motor. It sounds like a beast. It’s 4.4 liter and the factory M performance exhaust on the performance package is tuned and sounds really nice. No drone at all! Hear it rev in person and you will change your mind. It gurgles a little and had a bit of a popping sound when shifting gears at wot and downshifting in sport plus mode. It’s quiet when you need it to be and sounds mean when you are in the throttle.
man that shit is old and over priced by a used one for $50 grand like 3years old it looks the same and you can say you got a BMW better make sure you get warranty $$$$
"Porsche didnt start making high performance cars till much later" seriously?!?!? can you please not talk about cars ever again!! even when u r alone in the toilet... just dont!!
Furthermore, AMG was founded before M. And the comparable Cayenne, is not the GTS but rather a Turbo. I looked this video up because I'm interested in an X5M but this is too much uneducated verbal diarrhea. All Ms sound great my a**....
As you drive it just make sure you will come and do a similar documentary when it spend more time at the garage than it does on the road and you get the real meaning of BMW (bring my wallet). Don't forget it please because I know very soon you will know what an over-engineered junk you have bought
