Great video! I had a fault with a micro switch last summer. After some diagnostics, I found there was a broken wire in the harness. Brought it to the dealer thinking they can fix it quicker than I can. They told me I needed an entire new harness, roof module and pump. The cost was getting to over $7K. I’ll never step foot in a dealership again. Videos like this help us owners fix these things ourselves.
Hi Bob. Loved the video.. I had multiple problems with the 'roof' after the winter, Very similar in terms of the sensor. I replaced sensor and checked the C pillar wire but no joy. Found out that... the battery was knackered. replaced that and hey presto, bobs yer uncle and it jumped back into action. next up.. flashing dashboard... no not like some dodgy VHS video, but a dancing speed and rev counter with chistmas tree lights on the dash. took it to a BMW specialist, and found out the instrument cluster was gone. Do I think that the low battery destroyed the cluster... probably! anyway, the e89 35i is back on the road and putting a smile on my face!!!
Great video thanks, I released the pressure one the pump to drop the back lid into place, but I loosened the rood bolt first, some fluid came out but I cannot tighten it anymore. Do you have any advice on how to tighten the loose bolt on the pump. For reference it's 08:25 on your video. I released both, its reversed sides on my E89
What do you expect? The car is 13 years old and was an expensive car when new, do you expect to run it on peanuts? I have this same car but even older and in 5 years of owning it only just now have I had to spend money on it other than regular servicing, replaced the valve cover and valvetronic motor gaskets at a grand cost of 120 euros! Yeah I had to bring my wallet out 😂
