So I watched this one twice before riding tonight and I just landed my first couple bar spins. Thanks man I really appreciate the advice and all your videos man.
Here with ya bro at 44. I’ve just recently managed a few super sketchy pull up bars that look like trash but it’s giving me confidence and building muscle memory to progress with it. Good luck, have fun, and be safe my fellow old dude
48 and can only do pull up bars. I can't hop high enough with legs straight to do it on flat. I am going to try fly out next. Maybe into a pool when it's warmer :)
I feel you. We are in the same boat. 41 and trying to get my bunny hop higher so I can attemp bars, I can see some falling in the near future, ha. Let´s leave nothing for the worms, ha ha. Good luck to everybody
I found with barspins a good practice is to try and do it same form as u are used to while rolling probs in grass at first, once u get the hang of this bar spins will just come to u
While we’re on the subject of how to’s, could you please explain the process of taking your table tops from less than great to inverted, it seems like you’ve recently figured it out
Your hop barspin story reminds me of when I was learning impossibles on a skateboard I tried for months and months and couldn't unlock it. I quit trying for a little while. Then randomly gave it another try, landed it and then landed almost every single one after that. Keep putting in the effort and it may just click one day
LOL Bar spins are one of the easiest tricks. If you can't learn to bar spin on your own, you probably shouldn't even try BMXing. I was in elementary and just saw people do bar spins and then figured it out. I mean literally, you just spin the bars in a circle lol. Throw, reach, on back wheel, bunny, whatever, the bars go in a circle and your hand makes it go in a circle. Seriously it's not hard at all. It's not an intermediate trick, it's a beginner trick. If you know how to ride a bike, use your brain, and use your hand to spin the bars in a circle LOL, it's a beginner trick. The only thing I will say is, it's better to learn by reaching than full throwing. Master reaching before throwing. Or at least bussing instead of throwing at all. Definitely don't do that on your back beginners. You're gonna get smashed in your face by the bars lol.
@@worm6948 I had a gnarly one of those as a kid riding down a huge hill that had a patch of pine needles at a corner at the bottom .. bike came out from under me bars turned and went straight to the stomach .. no bar ends just a torn up piece of circular metal straight to my tummy
My favourite was stomping it clean af when no one was watching, and then when I went to show my friends I missed the bars, fell backwards and sprained my thumb the worst it’s ever been sprained. Couldn’t even press buttons to play video games for like 2 weeks.
It's so nice to have these daily BMX videos from our beloved Spencer. With uploads like this, you'd almost think he was a vlogger, and not some kind of action sport adventurer
I watched this, I had learned to bar before, but they were super sketchy and only about half of the time would land. I forgot after breaking my ankle. Then I decided I need to get better at them. Now I can do them on banks and bank hips and off of drops. This helped so much. Thanks Spencer :)
Another good tip is to throw the barspin at the peak of your bunny hop, most people panic and just try to throw it straight away, but wait till you're either at the peak or just about to come down and it'll come around
Excellent video. I just started riding a set of Momentums, and they're better than I expected. The secret to my learning barspins was not worrying about catching the bars too much to land them.
So I started throwing bunny hop barspins but I throw it with both hands not intentionally but is there a way to break this habit? I could 100% catch the bars if I just would be able to pass it off to my other hand. When I do truck driver style I let go but grip to tight with my throw hand and it usually ends with my arm all twisted awkwardly. I’m 37 and just recently got the balls to start throwing them. I can do it on my back like in this video but when it comes to the real thing I 2 hand throw and I hate it. Anyone have any suggestions?
From someone who just learned these. If you want to become a regular bar spinner, you need to learn the bus method, it's way more accurate and consistent in and out of weird places. The throw catch method looks cooler but it's less consistent, I hit my knee all the time and the bike gets away from you easier. If you can do them hop, you can do them anywhere. I learned them flyout and it's a totally different trick than hop. Good luck
Thank you BMX Dr Foresman for publishing your barspin research. This trick takes a lot of commitment and persistence, I have yet to unlock it. But maybe with your research I'll be able to do it.
I really struggle with the fear of the hop bar. I have a solid hop, probably 2 ft, maybe 3 ft max. And I can even do a pull up bar regular and switch, I can do everything you mentioned. But when it comes to letting go with my left hand while in the air, I really struggle. Gonna try your trick
I think you just like giving people the tip. Especially for free hahahha great job explaining the trick.shoukd have warned kids to get bar ends and try with protective gear if their beginning into bmx
Yo man, i learned a barspin but in the wrong way (i'm doing a oppo barspins instead of my regular, so i can't do the 180 barspins etc.) What do you recommend? To learning it in right way or just leave it?
@@sajmon_mtb9612 yeah, but i can do oppo bar from stairs or grinds, and i can’t even spin the bar in my regular way 🤣 so i need an advice from expert 😎
