I have played many sports in my life but bmx has earned my respect the most . After about 6 broken bones and more road rash than I can remember it’s definitely the most dangerous 💪🏼 salute all riders
It's getting too fast. And the bike tires aren't wide enough. Bikes are too light. Not enough weight to counteract the transfer of momentum against gravity compounded by kinetic energy. Would be better to race 24-26" mountain bikes. They wear a helmet and gloves, yoga pants and a jersey. They need more padding.
Jeez, BMX has really evolved since I was a little kid. Gonna go out and watch the race at the little track in Hagerstown MD Saturday at 11am. Not much else to do in this little old town.
Im only getting back into riding at 47, we never had those clipless pedals. Whats the crashes like with them on? They unclip easy? Love the vids man! Learnt alot.
Luckily vintage races like Dirtyfest and Frogtown are bringing back 70's, 80's and even 90's style tracks. Because a lot of us are still very fast but just don't have the muscle memory for these new tracks and bikes.
I felt all those crashes just watching. I crashed and landed on my shoulder hard. It didn't feel like anything that day, but two days after I felt it. I couldn't lift a pan at home. Hell, I'm going for a ride right now. I gotta be a cowboy, don't knock the dust off and jump back on the bull.
That last one they were coming out hot and and real compacted together. Man that's the best racing. Also the best recipe for crashing. It does look cool when they're all synchronized in the pack like that.
Even worse, at the A.B.A. Grands, Some of those crashes soo badd, Many don't return to race again. Conner retired. Crashing takes a tole on the body! Steve Veltman, knows that very well...
Modern racing just isn't that impressive to me. Its too fast because of the mega starting hill IMO. The paved berms are cool because low maintenance. However I am impressed with the fluidity and what I'll call agressive grace of the rapid movement around the track. Yes, a corny observation but that's what I see. How much can a top pro make these days??
