This dance is called "Cheraw kan" dance, the cultural dance of Mizo (Lusei) people mainly from Mizoram. Mizo and other tribes such as Chin and Kuki share common ancestry. The tradition and culture as well as the ancient religious rituals of the Mizo people are very symmetrical with Jewish traditional and ritual procedures. Many of them believe that they are the descendants of Manashe, but only a few of them feel obliged to convert to Judaism and then make Aliyah to Israel. My point is that not only the self-claimed Bnei Manashes from this community who converted to Judaism since few decades are Bnei Manashes, also the rest who do not want to convert to Judaism are ethnically the same as the ones that made Aliyah. It's just the fact that the rest are now so deeply rooted and faithful to their Christian faith enlightened by the British missionaries since the late 19 century that they see no necessity to convert. Before Christianity has become the nationwide religion, Mizo people believed in their ancient religion which is as mentioned very similar to Judaism. We can see so many more similarities in their present traditions and folklores with Jews. As a childhood, I used to play with my friends, and as we played a game "Lut teng teng", we would sing it "Lut teng teng, lut teng teng. Sion ah lut teng teng" while we were playing. It means "Ye, enter, enter. Ye, enter Sion (apparently Zion)" #I am one of them, I am a Christian ❤
Its called tinikling dance in Philippines. I wonder where did this dance originated from? or does it have another version somewhere where they don't use bamboo?
