I suspect that Almec was not really a fighter at all until shortly before this arc, and that the training was likely forced upon him by Maul so that he could put up a fight against captors or be respected by the other Mando troops since he was going to be their commander. The fact he is lacking a jetpack shows he probably didn't know how to use one yet, considering we see literally every other Mandalorian (Even the commanders) uses one in this arc. An interesting detail.

@@MalevolentSpirit234 doubt that. To be in his position in the first place he should have known how to fight (probably a lot better than most others considering he held up against Bo). He just was not in a situation where he needed a jetpack at the time, even Din Djarin took his off sometimes and he was perfectly skilled with it. Almec is just a politician and mandalorian officials probably need to be the best at everything.

@@PessimisticBrian Before he even joined Maul's "gang", he was a politician in Satine's pacifist government even before that. Satine, while knowing how to shoot a blaster, was not exactly a melee expert and if she did encourage self-defence classes they would not likely be as extensive as the ones real Mandos gave. He also didn't give the slightest bit of a melee fight when he was captured by Ahsoka and her young students and instead relied on others to fight for him. Which is why I think he only learned how to fight under Maul. PS: Almec also would have known that at one point or another he would be involved in a brawl, if you just look at how many troops were guarding him at once in the throne room (one of the most important locations on Mandalore, might I add, and a likely target of the GAR and Bo's forces). Mandalorians are typically fairly well prepared for any fight as we see and know, and the fact he is lacking a jetpack is a sign of his lack of want to use such a helpful tool rather than him being unprepared or thinking the fight was not going to reach him. Regarding the Bo part, he was an officer, and would have been a very valuable asset. He does show, however, a good fighting chance even at his age, indicating he took training seriously, was motivated to prove himself, and thought of it as important due to his rank as a leader. So it's a mixture of many factors.

Well a Mandalorian by birth is always a Mandalorian even if they are political leader or a blacksmith they are always a warrior

Fighting like that isn't propably daily thing for Almec and also he seems an fairly old guy .

After thinking about it, Almec is probably old enough to have been raised as an actual Mandalorian as their culture was dwindling. Even someone like Pre Vizsla was nominally loyal to Satine and was a governor.

Assassino275 yup. I think the worst part about this series is that the CIS are just not threatening. The mandalorians, sith and bounty hunters are though, which I think saves this series if I’m being honest.

@@Tradetek1 not true. While indeec she turned the mandalorians into ultra pacifists, but she tried to keep the mandalorian people from driving themselves to extinction with war. And she certainly left her mark on mandalore. If you noticed in season 7 of the clone wars the people of aundari and the other mandalorian cities the people were like the populations on planets like naboo, alderaan, mon cala, or couracant. Like regular generally peaceful people. In my opinion the warriors in rebels such as clan kryze, wren, vizla, fett, eldar, brook, or saxon. If you were a warrior and member of one of the clans like bow katan, pre vizla or gar saxon, you were in the nobility class of mandalore. And the regular people didnt all just put on armor and become an out right warrior race. They instead have the peaceful people as the regular dolk and people who lived in the clans like bow katan, sabine or vizla were nobility. Or in the case of clan kryze specifically, royalty.

I wouldn't call him worthy and not well suited to be Prime Minister but I do agree on his armor though. It is pretty sick and unique

I wonder whether Satine forged her own armour and we know that Din Djarin aka the Mando was training in the fighting corps around this time so I'm wondering whether mandalorians were still trained as warriors in a certain capacity under Satine's tenure or was it just Death Watch?

Fulcrum 1138 Even if the New Mandalorians were generally pacifists, they still could have practiced martial arts due to the health benefits, their significance to Mandalore’s culture, the purposes of self defence or simply because they still viewed it as an art form. They all may have potentially still been training under the Dutchess’ rule for those reasons , whilst many may have already been trained in them before Satine’s regime took control of the planet.

Fulcrum 1138 I figure that even though the New Mandalorians may have practiced such activities for the sake of recreation, this may not have been enough for some Mandalorians. I know that in the Legends continuity, there was a conflict between the Death Watch (under the command of Tor Vizsla) and the True Mandalorians (led by Jaster Mereel and eventually Jango Fett), with the causality being that the True Mandalorians wanted their people to primarily work as mercenaries and bounty hunters whereas Vizsla and his followers were more interested in returning the the old traditions of pillaging and waging total war. I imagine that Pre Vizsla had a similar mentality to Tor, as he frequently mentions that Satine is disgracing their ancestors by promoting pacifism, a far more egregious suggestion than that of the True Mandalorians, who merely wanted their people to move on from the constant bloodshed whilst still maintaining their pride as warriors. Satine and her supporters essentially threw away every Mandalorian tradition, including wearing their infamous armour sets. She essentially eradicated their entire cultural identity and tried to reshape it within her own image. To some, it may have seemed as if turning the martial arts of their forefathers into little more than a pass time was sacrilege, an affront to the memory of those who came before them. Or, if the old canon conflict between the Death Watch and True Mandalorians could still be classed as at least partially true (Satine rose to power at a time when insurgent groups were fighting over Mandalore, according to Obi Wan, so there’s a chance this might be the case), then the Death Watch could have already been established before she took power. Then, once the True Mandalorians were defeated and Tor Vizsla was killed by Jango, Pre turned his attention to Satine and the New Mandalorians, whom he would have viewed as even worse blasphemers than Mereel and his ilk. Also, the Republic reduced Mandalore to a barren wasteland several centuries before Satine became Dutchess, which is why they had to live in domed cities. I have to imagine many Mandalorians were still bitter about that and wished to get revenge against the Republic for the Excision (as it was known). This may have been why Pre Vizsla’s first move was to ally himself with the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Galactic Republic’s arch-rival at the time.

I can very much see Pre Viszla having the 'what's the point of training if we don't go out and use our skills' mentality. And it would also make sense as to why when Ezra suggests that the mandalorians use an alloy other than beskar for their armour in Rebels the mandalorians present are all visibly disturbed and state that each mandalorian's armour makes them who they are. That sentiment wouldn't make much sense if Satine forced everyone to throw away their armour. And considering if a rat like Almec had armour and knew how to fight decently it's very likely Satine does too.

I'm not so sure about all mandalorians because duchess satine kind of enforced the demilitarization of mandalorian culture basically trying to take away the warrior tradition of a mandalorian And the most of the people we see fight are either death watch or ex death watch members or mandalorian military members or mandalorian exile veterans

Boo-Karen is the most evil and hypocritical of all of them. I don´t get how her tantrum was supposed to make her look good. It actually makes her look even worse. She has no spine and believes in nothing and betrays everyone and everything the moment it is not profitable for her. Even Pre Vizsla or Gar Saxon who are supposed to be irredeemably evil are less loathsome than her.

It is pretty clear this space Karen never cared about her sister. She was totally OK with DW terrorists attacking her and trying to kill her, she teamed up with Maul and she knew Satine will 99% die. She "loves" her sister, or "her people" only when it suits her and she can manipulate people for her personal gain. She isn´t pissed off because Almec mentioned her sister but because he implied her sister was more capable and Bo will never be able to achieve anything even close to what she achieved.

As for their relationship, I´m pretty sure there was none originally. They decided to make her Satine´s sister just because the script says so and she is "good" now even if she isn´t.

Families are divided by conflicts in the real world as much as they are in a galaxy far, far away. Given time, Bo Katan would have made things right with Satine. Her regret stems from the fact that that chance was now lost to her.

This is kinda true. Considering what the Death Wach exile planet looked like under their rule the whole galaxy would be plundered and enslaved if those insane warmongers won. Maul was definitely the lesser of two evils.

I counted and I think there were 13 Death Watch warriors and Prime Minister Almec defending the throne room against 4 Night Owl warriors and Bo Katan. All 13 Death Watch Warriors along with 2 Night Owls were killed in raid.
