People are saying the Broncos had one of the worst drafts. We got the QB we wanted and we got a first round wide receiver (in the 4th round somehow) who is very close with Bo and has played a lot of football with him. I couldn’t be happier with our draft tbh.

Thank You. Nix led Auburn to a 9-4 record in his freshman season, winning the Iron Bowl, 48-45 . All you hear is how bad he was at Auburn. Most Qb wear a red shirt their freshman year. The only thing to learn from Auburn to here is how much he improved every year. It isn't that often you can physically see the growth and improvement year to year. How can you say it will stop in the NFL. It's a joke.

Bo Nix to me is maybe the greatest value in this draft. Anyone who drafts him is gonna get a sure-fire NFL quality starter imo, someone who's gonna be smart with the ball, thrive out of structure and still be disciplined enough to play in structure. He translates very well to the NFL game and can be a reliable point guard to playmakers. If the Vikings can snag him with their 23rd overall pick, he's gonna have a fantastic career.

Nix is so underrated it’s stupid. He has top 3 arm talent - watch the 67 air yard throw during his pro day. Nix has a stronger arm than Drake Maye. Maye has yet to show that kind of range. Longest air throw I have found from Maye is 62 air yards. The Oregon offense let him decide what he wanted to do. He had full autonomy. They called a lot of underneath stuff because teams dropped 7 and 8 into coverage most plays. People don’t realize he shredded defenses that were solely focused on stopping him downfield. The Oregon offense is heavily pro based. Andy Dalton? Dude you are high as a kite. It’s incredible how ridiculous these guys and pundits are. They know so little about offense.

He's not being overlooked, he's being over-hyped. Nix was quite average for 3 years until he was surrounded by NFL talent & protected behind a top 3 OL in the college game. He also struggled with learning pro concepts outside the college spread developed by Gus Malzahn. He spent 4 out of his 5 seasons in a system that did not train hm for the NFL & in the only season he was introduced to pro concepts, he was benched for a while & struggled when he returned. His video game numbers have to be looked at in the light of all that. He is not ready to start in the NFL, & he will likely take a minimum of one year, possibly two before he is.

What’s the difference between a QB who plays longer in college and one who rides the bench a few years while “learning”? We see it time and time again QB’s rushed into the starting lineup and usually it doesn’t work out right away or at all. The whole age thing is ancient ideologies. These NFL QB’s can play well into their 40’s, I doubt NFL franchises read too much into the age like the outside world. I love the fact he’s played longer. Got more development. Like a basketball/baseball player going to G league or AAA,etc. NFL can view longer years in college the same way. Just my two cents lol
@user-zr4km5ns8t
@user-zr4km5ns8t Месяц назад
He played longer, but not in a system that trained him for the NFL. He would have been better served if he had come out a year ago & been inside an NFL QB room. He's going to have to sit for a year at the bare minimum when he gets to the league. Also, don't make the mistake of seeing what Brady & Brees did as normative, playing well into their 40s. Those are outliers. The shelf life of an NFL QB is still typically until they are in their mid to late 30s. A guy who exposes himself to a lot of hits because he runs a lot...probably less.

@user-zr4km5ns8t

@@jstrig Neither Marcus Mariota nor Justin Herbert ever played in Gus Malzahn's HUNH offense. Mariota was at Oregon from 2012-2014 when Malzahn was at Arkansas State & then at Auburn. Herbert was at Oregon from 2016-2019, again while Malzahn was at Auburn. He played for Mario Cristobal at Oregon who ran pro style sets as opposed to the Malzahn offense. Cam Newton did play for Malzahn when he was at Auburn, he was famously very poor at reading defenses, which is why the Panthers let him run the ball a lot. Mariota played at Oregon from 2012-2014, so he had Chip Kelly one year & Mark Helfrich for two years & they ran versions of the HUNH also. Mariota started as a rookie in the NFL only b/c the Titans had no other choice. Their other QB was Zach Mettenberger, a 2014 6th round pick who went 0-10 as a starter. Did Mariota live up to his status as the #2 pick in the draft? No. He was below .500 for the Titans in his 5 seasons with a low comp% & has been a backup/journeyman QB ever since with only 13 starts in the last 4 years. He's basically been what many people would think of as a bust. Herbert was a stud from his rookie year in the NFL, again playing a lot of college ball in pro style sets. Nix played for Malzahn for his first two seasons in 2019 & 2020. When Malzahn took the UCF job in 2021 Auburn brought in Boise State's Bryan Harsin who implemented some pro style sets into his offense. Nix played poorly & was benched for a while, then bolted to Oregon in 2022 to follow his former OC Kenny Dillingham who was running Malzahn's offense for the Ducks. Nix has been in the same system 4 of his 5 seasons in college, which is one designed by Gus Malzahn. It's the same system NFL QB coach Jordan Palmer says is almost useless as a preparation for the NFL. Expect Nix to sit for a good while on the bench.
@jstrig
@jstrig Месяц назад
@@user-zr4km5ns8t Nix is going to be a day one starter. He has been called the most prepared to lead an NFL team on day one. Nix leads in 7 out of 13 PFF QB categories. No other QB leads in more than 2. Nix was called a field general by an ASU defender because Nix is in full command of his offense, he does a great job reading defenses and making adjustments pre-snap without assistance from the coaches on the sideline. Nix is very underrated. Mariota isn't a good example. He dealt with a lot of injuries, one of which was a nerve injury that affected the feeling in his throwing hand. However, Mariota did have a perfect passer rating in his first game. I believe Mariota also lost his confidence along the way. Nix isn't Mariota.

As a Jets fan, I know we’re in an all in push and it’s not gonna happen, but I would be so happy if we walked away with him. I think the QB eval process has been flipped so on its head in recent years to the point where physical attributes are weighed extremely heavy and the mental aspect is put on the backburner, and we’ve seen the result. There’s only one Pat Mahomes, and it’s incredibly difficult to take raw talents like Josh Allen and develop them the way he has. There have been so many busts that have come as a result of chasing athleticism, when a guy like Brock Purdy has shown that even with average athleticism, a QB with football IQ and a talented roster can go far. Everything I’ve heard and seen on Nix indicates he’s the most pro-ready QB by a country mile, he’s lauded for his personality and natural leadership ability, and the offense they run in Oregon is very similar to the West Coast style that Rodgers and Caveman Nate like to run. Sit him behind Rodgers for a year or two, get another talented OT and WR in rounds 2/3, and when Rodgers retires he can have an even better supporting cast around him than the one we have now, and tutelage from one of the GOATS. We could then shake the stain of last year’s New York Packers and truly assume the mantle of San Fran East 😎

Bo Nix did not take over for Cam Newton at Auburn, he took over for Jarrett Stidham, who out-played him across the board there. Stidham, who Broncos fans ridicule as nothing but a backup, came out of Auburn knowing next to nothing about how to diagnose NFL defenses because of the system he was in at Auburn. Bo Nix has been in that same system for 4 of the 5 seasons he played, two at Auburn, & two more at Oregon. Only his third season at Auburn did he spend any time at all in an offense that even tried to install any kind of pro concepts. When he did, his performance declined & he immediately bolted to the Ducks where he followed his former OC Kenny Dilingham. Nix described playing in that system with new HC Bryan Harsin as a "nightmare". Nix, at a bare minimum, will require time to develop in the NFL. How much time is unknown, but he's not going to be a rookie starter.
