Board Games with Scott 068 - Horse Racing Games 

I played Win, Place & Show from Avalon Hill with a friend for days on end. With only 2 players we concerned ourselves with the betting aspect exclusively. We even had to write up new denominations as we had figured out which horse was most likely to win each race. In the end we were placing billion dollar bets.

I'm a huge fan, I've watched almost every bgws episode and I say this is one of the best. I'll actually recommend it as an explanation about strategy and tactics. Keep up the great work, Scott =).

Love your vids Scott...I am just so impressed by the variety of board games that are still available today. I live in Japan, and there's not much available here.

I am italian and bought yesterday Horse Fever, the little horses of italian edition are actually little woodden horses! The design is so funny, I was a little scared of all the rules but watching videos is helping me undersatanding how it works!

Excellent video exploration of the differences between tactical and strategical games. I greatly enjoyed it.

@MagikGimp Yes. It takes RU-vid a little while to fully process a video. Given that I uploaded it only a few minutes ago, you just stumbled across the video still in process.

I also really liked the new format. I think this episode had a very high quality, it was 100/100. Please keep them coming (I now have Horse Fever into my BGG Wishlist...).

@Ilopsen Yup, I do one a month now. So, I'm not stopping - I'm just not doing them as frequently as I once did.

This was a great video. I generally check out your vids when some game seems interesting to me, but having an episode comparing multiple games (with some very good quick analysis of each game) got me interested in games I wouldn't have otherwise checked out.

I'm not a huge fan of horse racing, on the table top or in the real world, but your video's so good, I just might give one of these ones a try. Horse Fever, which you said is your favourite, sounds like it's the sort of game I should enjoy too. The trouble is that board and those "horses" are just ugh! Could they not at least have given us something that looked like a horse instead of blobs of coloured plastic? A quick edit here, on Amazon this game is $199.99... and they couldn't afford to include horses??? 😲

New to this channel, but not new to board games. I'm particularly a big fan of sports games particularly the Sports Illustrated/Avalon Hill line (since the mid 70s). Paydirt, BowlBound, Baseball, and Decathlon, all great games. I also happen to own their "Win Place Show" game; what's your take on that game?

@Felipediasbr What I've decided to do is not force the funny intros. If I have a good idea for one, then I'll do one. If I don't have a good idea, then I don't try to force it. I've not been happy with the intros when they are something forced.
