I think creature boards without the logo are easily S tier. Their colors are usually really cool and the way they all bleed together after board sliding looks so dope.
I always felt like Hockey graphics have some irony baked into them already. Its like a 30/70 split between ironically edgy or just weird, and actually edgy. The desk carve deck that's on their site right now is a good example. I will agree that most of the recent drop that you looked at falls on the actually edgy side though.
the recent AWE angel graphic looks grea imo. I bought a kRod hockey deck with the perspective changing post card of Paris glued to the bottom a few years ago. The thing came off one time as I landed primo and feet slipped hitting the thing. Now It still serves as a painting on my wall and it's honestly quite cool
The creature logo is supposed to be cheesy, it’s trying to replicate those old horror movies’ font. They’ve just been around forever, can’t blame them for that.
I think DGK is really good at creating an image through their board graphics but i just hate how they look. I agree on Hockey often being too serious with their vision but i still think they do a very good job with their graphics
Get Ted to look at Isle graphics next time he’s on. Nick Jensen is a classically trained artist and he creates all of their graphics out of physical pieces that he then photographs.
it's pretty cool to see this amount of skate brands, here in Brazil the better ones we can get are in a affordable price are the element, flip older ones
I've seen that yellow Pennzoil R34 in person. It's a Japanese Grand Touring Championship winner. Very famous car that's on display in the NISMO factory just outside of Tokyo. I never knew DGK dropped these, might need to buy a few.
idk if it was on the site when yall were looking at it, but i absolutely love the ben k hockey graphic where its just a crossed out red 'No' sign with the brand name underneath. the brand is best when it brings in some humor, worst when it doesnt
I'm not a teen but I mainly skate Hockey. Maybe it was the graphic you happened on but a lot of Hockey graphics are actually sick to look at. I like the squared out nose and tail along with the wheelbase being brought way in. I skate an 8.25 and that 14.12 wheelbase just work really well with my flip tricks and slides/crooks. I haven't found another brand with the exact shape / measurements so I'm sticking with FA/Hockey for now.

Wasn't the Habitat x Twin Peaks collab from 4 years ago, when season 3 came out? You were right though. Even I as a card-carrying Peakie thought the graphics had all the charm of a free WordPress theme for a coffee house website.

I think Zero belongs in the S teir. An iconic logo that looks good in any color combo, misfits colabs, and i recently saw a bondage barbie one which was extrememly sick
Fun fact:the Max Palmer's 'Lord of Rats' Limosine skateboards graphic was taken from a painting/drawing Cyrus made for Max's graphic. Cyrus also mentioned in Favorite skaters favorite skater, Max does the nosebonk frontside 360's is called the Ratsspins. Max =Lord of Rats. Thank you. Also I got the 3 Limosine skateboards decks from my local. The team board, snake pit, is zilver not white and has a shovel nose (FA-ish) which I like. BBS premium woodshop can't go wrong with that. Riding a WKND deck now, those graphics are strange, in a good way. Can't wait to shred a limosine.
The dumbasses from FA are now selling Hockey on Zumiez, i love the Hockey videos and their weird brutalist edgy teenager aesthetic, but this was surely a dick move by the people at FA, and i will not be surprised if eventually they start selling FA clothes and decks at Zumiez too.
There’s so many better opportunities for designs and ideas you can draw from Twin Peaks. The habitat design team must just not know how to make good looking skateboard graphics, everything they make looks like some kind of coffee shop leaflet or the animated loading screens on a meditation app. The whole brand feels like 2012 Instagram and lacks any substance or aesthetic quality now.
Agreed. And it makes me sad. Such a fucking cool and perfect brand name. Not to mention legit core aspects too. And yet they continue to go down and down and down. Horrendous graphics for several years now. Truely feels like they have given up? I mean I just don’t get it. Their name alone can sell merchandise. But it seems they are putting such minimal effort it’s almost intentionally trying to fold as a company? Lol idk…habitat was one of my all time fav crews back in the day. I just love the name Habitat too

I like about half of DGK graphics but their boards are the fucking shit and like perfectly shaped for me. Never ever chipped one either. I feel weird being a 35 year old white dude from TN skating them sometimes but I'm truly in love with their shapes.
as someone who skates a glue deck, i absolutely agree i have the dysphoria in 8.5, and i absolutely love the colour execution, the simplistic graphic with the red background really pops and the yellow top ply fits super well, and when you get a couple boardslides on it it starts to look kinda cursed and creepy which i love i very much prefer their more simple, sort of uncanny stuff rather than their tryhard edgy stuff
I respectfully disagree about your thoughts on HOCKEY. Might be a cringe thing in general bcuz of these 15year olds, but the graphics themselves are always perfectly executed imo.

@@FRIGIDBASTARDS Hockey consistently has some of the hardest graphics in the game imo...Yes, sometimes they're a little "much" but I think they're done so pretty tastefully. Younger kids like them because they're obviously cool looking and are quality decks. I also seem to remember an older Ben Kadow graphic that was eerily similar to that Max Palmer Limousine board, but I really like the Limo graphics too. Hockey decks are 9/10 times really sick looking, Plan B boards are eyesores 9/10 times tho lol

On the Habitat graphic: You're completely right about how it's made to be sold at BB&B, but don't hate on the zig zags. The zags are the coolest part bc that is a motif from Twin Peaks that comes up often. It's supposed to represent that unsettling feeling you mentioned, which makes since to why you don't like it lol it's also made to represent waves of electricity transmitting entertainment to viewers. And then we have the floors in the lodge that did the same thing. That's all I wanted to say. They did put some thought into it, but it's very Urban Outfitters with the whole simplified log lady
I am a die hard Habitat fan. Maybe they should dumb it down? Or honestly just go in an entirely different direction. I have been so incredibly underwhelmed with their boards for years now. Like I said I love the company. There’s isn’t much better of a brand name than Habitat. Timeless name. They NEED to fix shit and not fade away again.

i liked the embossed one, sue me. it initially looked more bone like than barb wire. that said i understand being tired of barb wire alongside butterflies and alot of 90s/y2k symbology getting spammed to hell. maybe its me being.a millennial /involuntary apologist for corny 90s symbols
