“I like stuff that gets a little messy,” says Warpaint guitarist Theresa Wayman.
We met up with the LA-based heavy psych rockers before their show at Cleveland’s Beachland Ballroom to learn more about the gear behind their lysergic, acid-drenched guitar sound. Wayman coaxes a surprising variety of tones from her Spartan rig - a JHS Sweet Tea feeds a pair of EHX Pitch Forks, which run into a Catalinbread Adineko, into the Dispatch Master reverb and delay. “I love [the Dispatch Master] because it just creates a lot of wash and tail, and I need that,” she says.

So great live! I've seen them twice. I was surprised with just how VERY danceable their music is and they have a great chemistry with their audiences ..... so long as its not a completely dead audiences. Stella and Jenny are a machine!

I got an Afterneathe recently and really like it. It's a great pedal if your playing allows for some space between notes for its swell of delays to cascade. I actually think it could be a great additional spice to the Warpaint sound on a slower tempo song.

Reverb!, my beloved brother's and sister's in guitarplaying and smooth dreamy music, is the moste important and underrated effect every one need! I love long and deep analog reverb like spring and plate ...i cant without :D ...2th is delay, that sounds so... Wow! Realy WOW deep, spacey, dreamy and is the ground for all psy stuff from 60s psy to indie in all kind to dream pop and,and and!!! ...she, theresa, is so a good musican and have the realfeel for it!

I recommend the Electro Harmonix Poly Chorus to her, which she will never read. It has an "overload" indicator and a mind of its own. I accidentally literally fried the board on mine...woops.

When are they making a new album it’s been too long! Or at least a new track? Warpaint - Warpaint should have been used in John Pilgers The Coming War on China! I need them to get my RATM political mojo on in their unique style they’re one of the only current bands you can feel we need more of that before AI completely takes over...
