Insane to think this is from an album that was technically unreleased, that we weren't supposed to see. This is one of the best Boards of Canada songs I've heard, it would be an absolute shame to have never heard it.
So very true. It is also unlike the rest of that unreleased work: like a preview of what was to come, but with a touch of upbeat. I love this piece, and will admit to listening to it on repeat on more than one occasion.
Me too, 1975 has a good ring to it... I also love Gunship, they have such nostalgia for the 80's and some amazing videos. And there's always Aphex Twin... us gen X'ers have to lead the way :D
It’s definitely not “just music.” Sometimes I think it even needs its own word besides “music,” like, collective universal life force sounds or something…but that’s hard to say.
Ur right. I can remember there used to be a fan made video for Macquarie ridge whith a bullet traveling through heaps of shit in Slo mo and as weird as it sounds it complemented the track perfectly
From all the Boards of Canada videos, this is personally my favorite. It brings me back memories when I was a kid and I used to watch a lot of animal documentaries.
death is an inevitable part of life. Even in a poisoned world for humanity some next organism shall prosper! the type of creature that would make a great BOC video most likely!
In other words Our Children, Their Children, And Their Children’s Children Have The Right To Enjoy Both Nature And Music? Coincidentally that’s my favourite BoC album (fantasy).
Makes me want to assemble a lot of the good ones into a music movie, sorta like Gorrilaz' Plastic Beach, collection of videos. The different creators will make it feel a bit weird so I guess the job of the collection-maker would be to find ones that work together for each album, which could be rough.
Words and language simply fail to describe the prismatic vibes and awesome meaning of this music for it is an everlasting mystery full of hope, beauty, compassion and the innate freedom of the natural world. To love freely, silently, without attachment ....... this is freedom...
They've influenced me to not be afraid of the unknown. When I first started listening to them I thought there music sounded very eerie and melancholic to me but since then the eerie feeling faded and was replaced with nostalgia and a familiar feeling that only box can give me. Most beautifully haunting melodies I've ever heard.
Any footage to this song would be cool because this song is so pensive and mnemonic. Definitely one of those deep underground tracks that I love. BOC...one of my favorites.
No. ESPECIALLY in the USA. During the 90's we had Bill Clinton as Pres. The last one with an I.Q. over 150. (Or maybe 135, or even 110). We also Liberated Kuwait and Kosovo from Authoritarianism.
what a mesmerizing video...very well done. it surely is a nice departure from the "grainy, old stock footage" cliche that's been beaten to death on many other boc youtube videos.
But that is beautiful too! The graininess in their clips is all about reminiscing about childhood and a historical narrative that most of us (except for our parents or grandparents) will never know (for instance like the Cold War era). Their ‘movie reels’ are so haunting and ethereal. They nail it every time! Brilliant
Ive been sifting through a suggested music playlist on youtube and you are exactly right. One of the very rare times i instantly love a song upon first hearing it, and wanting to listen to the end
Holy shit, this is great footage. I know you didn't take it yourself, but wow... great work setting it to this song. Also, never heard this BoC track before, so that's a double win.
Yet another BoC tune i never knew was out there. I guess it helps with there never being another release by them, gives me a sense of 'newness' : ) Btw, sounds more than a little like the first track on side 2 from the Random 35 tapes! This isn't as simplistic and so pure as that short tune, but has very much the same haunting vibe, and reminds me of something that i know, but can never describe. I'll now play this for ages, and really appreciate you people are out there to post, and to comment.
Изумително е ! Amazing ! Усещанията, които извиква тази музика, не са обвързани с конкретно време и място....Тя е навсякъде, където поискаме, и, може би - била е с нас винаги.... :)
this shit change my life. i listened to this, went out in cali one day, bought a pair of KEEN'S and they are the best shoes you'll ever purchase. they are fit for all terrains , mountain, river, street/urban, ice (meth) . i own multiple pairs and they are second to none, i whole heartedly recommend going half a size up for maximum comfort and versatility. thanks for listening. gr8 tuna. x
This video and soundtrack is so mesmerizing! Gorgeous! Ive probably watched it 50x. Never get tired of it. Ah the wonder of nature. Thank you Boards of Canada l❤
This is probably the best sounding song of the entire Old Tunes series. Mastering is superb, makes me think this almost got an official release before being shelved.
Yup here I am in 2021 responding to something you left in 2015 and it’s still not at half a million.. hopefully someone comes in 6 more years and responds to me and says the same. Let it always be rare. Best things In life are. Cool person in the future, use this song to enlighten those around you to who you truly are, the rare 1!
