Does anyone else wonder whether these songs were written under the influence of a highway?? The synths purr like laughing automobile engines, made of the finest porcelain and crystals. Anyone who has lived near a highway can tell you. It's a growling noise, but it has a pleasant familiarity once you get used to it. Maybe boc just delivers what is familiar in our subconscious. Maybe it is the automobile that drives us, just for once?
the truck sound in Odd Nosdam's mix of Dayvan Cowboy - a sound coming from far away then disappearing into the night - is that Highway sound you talk about - recall that they did travel Canada and the US in the late 90's where they picked up the sound, and have used it in their sound here and there ever since
Most of their music has a feeling of a journey, either by road, rail, air, sea or space. There are lots of their tunes that has the rhythmic sound of a train on tracks at various speeds. They also capture the sound and feeling of weather perfectly which adds to the trip. The music is largely nostalgic nods to the sounds of our childhood. Projector sounds & PSA films, Train travel & seaside trips, wildlife walks, kite flying, sail boating etc. Oh & distant chatter/laughter carried by the wind. Making music that you can feel is a rare gift & these boys are absolutely brimming with it.
I loved Tomorrow's Harvest when it came out in 2013. Listening to it now it sounds prophetic to the utter insanity we seem as a society and species to be hurtling towards at an increasing rate.

Yes, some of the best! 11:55 🔥 12:40 gives me circle of life vibes, so many past love ones having made their transition, a frontier of new generations just beginning. A lot of my family had older parents so 4 generations spread over 120 years.
Someone very close to them (like in their mngmt team on Warp or something ) confirmed that BoC was working on new material. But we do know it might take a while before we hear that.
