I backward sampled Boards of Canada's "The Beach at Redpoint" using Serato Sample, then put it through Zynaptiq's Wormhole and Adaptiverb. I finished compressing it using the Maag Magnum-K compressor.
The Maag Magnum-K compressor is an opto compressor with input gain, attenuation, a full-band compressor, a sidechain, a 3kHz focused compressor, parallel eq, makeup gain, and a soft limiter-all built-in. When I can use it (depending on the material), I do because it takes the place of four separate components in my mastering. It can be a bit difficult to use because there are no meters, only LEDs, but once you understand it and get used to it, it can be a really amazing compressor. I find I have to use my ears a lot when using it, but that is not a bad thing at all.
I don't pretend to fully understand Wormhole and Adaptiverb, but playing around with them can lead to hours of experimentation, and I usually stumble upon some wonderous sounds.
