bad maintenance yes but poor design too. should have had stainless bushings in both parts and grease fitting on the shaft. just plain cheap

Cobrajet steering makes a rod that connects to the port nozzle as well so that the force of steering is distributed equally.

Few things of note here: 1. That stupid rudder thing on that boat is a completely unnecessary gimmick, any jet boat pilot worth his salt knows how to maneuver at low speeds. 2. That thing has had ZERO maintenance and probably gets left in the water for long periods which you cannot do with a jet boat.

I live in the baltic sea in tbe stockholm archipelago. And the water here is somewhat blended with fresh and salt. And it’s quite lovely to both boat and bath in

Same with jetskiis. I recommend spraying everything off after use , flushing enginesngins, and WD 40 any metal surfaces inside and out and it will always look new.

Man that’s a 2021? Geez that thing hasn’t been maintained at all. I have a 2009 jet boat and never leave it in the water always flush and wash after use with salt away and still runs like new.

When you’re loosening the rudder bolts - the plastic through hull looks poorly seated and is moving around when you bump it. I’d bet a set of Landers it’s leaking.

I had a SeaDoo jet boat that was really fast and fun! Until the engine blew up... I replaced the engine and sold it. My new Tahoe T16 with the Mercury 75 outboard is a bit slower but much more reliable and easy to work on. Not to mention much more fuel efficient. Would never go back.

You wanna know why it blew up? Rotax jetski engines are compete junk. They’re some of the worst jetski engines on the market. Yamaha jet boats are a lot more reliable. We have a 2003 Yamaha FX 140 which uses the same engine they put in the older jet boats. It has over 500 hours on it, starts up every time, and shows no signs of quitting. The only problem we have had with it was an oil leak caused by a bad gasket which was easily fixable.

😵‍💫 No steering - break out the drogue and hope the power is there. You are going to wander. throttle control will be critical - inlets impossible - wear your jacket, you're in for a ride. Know before you go. In the old pulley days this was not uncommon.

Next time I want to see a real life example of the dangers of losing steering at high speed in a jetboat. Perhaps pair it with an automatic inflatable life jacket review. For demonstration purposes only... of course ;)

It is incredible how a honest mechanic can save you time and money, the owner of this boat is very lucky. There are places that would of charge him A LOT even though it only required a few parts. The work you guys do is OUTSTANDING. Kudos 👊🏻.

I almost didn't watch because of how much I hate jet boats. I work on them almost every week at my shop, I don't see why people buy them. Just did a rudder pin on one last week , 2 year old boat.

Cable system in salt is a loser from Canada 2 weeks in salt screwed up my steering, it was seized solid all wires for the bilge pump rotted off. New hydraulic steering and new bilge pump system

A boat which is not designed to stay in the water. Then that's a bad design! Great fix anyway. Shouldn't you have sprayed new paint to the rudder to prevent corrosion?
