Thank you. Working on this part of the hull is pretty easy since it is pretty much at chest height. The next project is at the shear line on the fore deck which requires working on a ladder or staging. That makes it much less fun.
It looks like you may have invented a new way to caulk a seam! AS far as being unorthodox with the seam putty, i think that if the boatbuilders back in the day would have had it they would have used it.
It is possible that boat builders back then might have used some new fangled methods, but boat builders are pretty conservative. That is particularly true of modern wooden boat fanciers who seem to think that if a method wasn't in use 2,000 years ago that it shouldn't be used now.
