I've been watching The Chit Show for, roughly five years. This year, I'm seeing so many more seriously overweight people than I remember seeing before. Is boating becoming more accessible to the heavy, or are more Floridians getting heavy? I also spent most of the '80s launching from public ramps in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. I'm used to average beer bellies. This is differents. Also, more small kids without life jackets ...
That isn’t just Florida, that is the majority of the population now. I rarely see fit people now. A sad fact is 1 out of 3 children now have diabetes in the USA.
Had to tell you that "welcome to the shitshow" boat got 1st place at the Lake Tapps boat parade in Washington State on Saturday the 29th. They had a porta potty on the back and a 4' pile of poop on the front!!!!!😂😂😂
I don't know why everyone tries to get either the bow line or stern line secured first. If you secure the bow line first, the stern will often drift away from the dock, and if you secure the stern line first, the the bow will usually drift away. One line tied to the mid ship cleat on the boat....the one you tie off to for a spring line....should be the first line to be secured to the dock. It will keep the bow and stern from drifting away from the dock and make securing those other two lines (stern and bow) so much easier.

Alfred, definitely Beck's beer, when I worked for teakdecking in Sarasota we left Port Everglades on board seaborne pride to San Juan to do some work on the ship and then flew back from San Juan. Two weeks later we flew to San Juan and cruised back to Port Everglades. Because there were no passengers on board we did not have to go through customs. So the first officer opened up the ship store for us and we bought up a bunch of cases of Beck's beer and cartons of Marlboro cigarettes to take back to Sarasota we had our luggage strapped on top of the rental vans in order to carry all the beer and cigarettes. Good times!$10 a carton and $10 a case since there was no duty or taxes on it.
