Haha, yes. I definitely know there are easier more efficient ways of fiberglassing in stringers. I wanted to try this way and just continued with it lol. If I did it again I would try to find a chopper gun.

I was thinking a paper shredder would work great too, but I guess conscripting your friends is easier 😆

Many Boat Manufacturers still use chopper guns to save time and expense. They also use 1708 in critical stress areas. I suggest you use 1708 Glass Mat, (2 layers) it will be Much Stronger and that area needs to have a lot of strength. The 1708 is a weave on one side, chopped on the other, that's where it gets its strength. The thin layer of chopped glass you installed probably won't hold up very long, you will run the risk of cracking a stringer. Enjoying your series.

Is there still a gap between the keel and the ribs for water to drain back to the stern bilge area? You are doing great and it is fun to watch you get through what has to be far more than you bargained for in a project.

Yup, I made sure there was a drainage channel. Haha I did buy the boat as a rebuild project but you never really know what your getting untill you dig into it. But it has been fun thanks for following along! 😊

These boats originally had the stringers glassed in with a chopper gun. Much faster but very similar results.

i looked into getting a chopper gun setup but it was very pricey from what i found. otherwise i would of gone that route

In part 5, "Removing The Stringers" you can see the Manufacturer used Chopped Strand "Mat". They probably used a chopper gun but a structural glass "Mat" needs to go back in preferably a 1708.

That seemed unnecessary and time consuming. Would have just left in strips and laid down. Seems like it would be stronger that way too.Could easily manipulate the mate.

I should of at least tried that methed eh. It definitely was time consuming, but what isn't during a full rebuild lol 😂
