Thanks Jason , been suffering with a nasty strain of Covid, kept me busy in hospital last year, still suffering but hopefully I’ll be back doing the boat soon 🤞🙏
Hi Phil. I was at the boat show a few years ago and most boats now are going with a panel finish on ceiling. I've put headliners up before and its a complete nightmare. I liked the idea of making small panels in thin ply to suit the roof alignment, these are covered in thin foam and headliner and stapled. They are held on the roof with the old car door cards poppers and can be removed easy to access roof lighting or running cables. Suppose it would depend on height clearance or shape of roof but I think it could work on most boats
Hi Bunty , your idea of door card poppers are great actually, we’ve not got to do anything on the boat since the last video, hopefully it’s not to long before we can get back on it. I’ll certainly think on that method for sure, many thanks for your comments and kind words 🙏🙋♂️🍻
Hi Phil / all I’m a new subscriber to your channel after watching it by off chance, but must say you look to be doing a fantastic job. Which has got me and the wife inspired by looking at something like a freeman 24 but not sure for canal or river use..as obviously we are new to all this so will need to do some digging into the cost of been able to own a boat and what is needed for the water ways…but anyway I’m hooked 😆 So look forward to future episodes and seeing it finished, and if yourself or anyone can enlighten me on my Choice of boat as a beginner or what it takes to get afloat will be much appreciated… Thanks 👍🏼
Hi Jason, thanks for subscribing 🙏, freeman’s, yes I’m very fond of these boats, a well proportioned vessel indeed, could be used for both river and canals I’d say, depending on engine….. Enjoy her before you do any major work as I’ve learnt the hard way, I think I’ve used my boat only twice before taking her out to do a little up grade, I’m now into my 4th year!. Hopefully I will be back doing things once this Covid has left my system. Happy boating dear boy I envy you 😎🍻
Welcome back Phil good to see you back working on the boat, i'm also doing a refurb on a Viking 23 but sadly i don't have the luxury of indoor workspace so i have to work around the weather here in the Uk. I don't think im to far away from you as i live in Bolton :) Looking forward to your progress
Hi Mark, thanks for your comments, Bolton you say 🤔, your indeed right, I’m not far away from you, further more if your ever in my neck of the woods I’d be very happy to see you, likewise I’d love to see how your getting on too. Vikings, nice boat’s 👍. Your right about the indoor bit, however the cost of such a place does make this build a labour of love and not a profitable one 🤷♂️. Thanks once again dear boy 🙋♂️🍻
Great to see you back, Phil! I can't see myself using a stonechip effect on any future headlining....... I'm 6'2 And it would probably act as a cheese grater on my bonce! Would some form of rubber strip act as a "bed" for the window frame and help seat/seal it better? I haven't disassembled my wheelhouse so don't know how the aluminium frames are sealed against the GRP. That said, my surfaces are a lot less curved so I'm guessing bedded in with some form of window putty (the cabin frames were held in with that sort of substance). The cover sounds like it could be fun and games too! Can you dry fit that too?
Hi Jason, at the moment I can’t test fir the canopy, I’m hoping that it will be sort of ok, but I’m also edging on the possibility of a new one anyway. Also the windscreen I think could do with a gasket of some kind also. As for the lining, the gang way will be fabric, but for you at 6’2” 🤔 I think you’d be right, you’d be stripped of hair within hours dear boy 👍🍻🙋♂️
Hi Phil. If you delete following my chanel then load again it should bring up all 11 videos. Do you or anyone else have any measurements for the waterline Mark for the anti foul. Cheers. Have a nice day
Hi Phil, hope you and your family are good. I have been a subscriber from your early days and wondered if or when you will be putting out a new video. I ask as I am now on the hunt for a nautilus 27 myself and obviously very interested in the progress of your boat. Am I right in thinking you are from Warrington like me? Cheers Gary.
Hi Gary, not to far from you, I’m based in the Lytham St Anne’s area on the Fylde coast. I’m hoping to resume working on her soon, just had a nasty dose of the Covid, ended up in I C U for awhile, but recovering well, just need energy levels to get me back doing things. I’m thankful that you have stuck around, all I can say , she will be back on RU-vid soon. I’ve also a few classic cars that have been stored with her in my warehouse, so once they are moved I can get cracking, subject to being able that is. I’ve noticed one has popped up on eBay, with an outboard I think….. Kind regards Phil
Good to see you back Phil. Have you seen the Nauticus Canal Cruisers website? There are instructions and plans to convert the windscreen to a folding version using all the original parts. That needs the wooden support you mention in this video. Yopu can also see photos that might help you with the original rubbers. Keep up the good work. Link to plans is nauticus.co.uk/windscreen.pdf
Hi Dave, yes I forgot about the club site actually, I remember those plans, I’ll take another look, and thanks for the link and time that you’ve spent looking into it..... Regards Phil 👍🍻🙋♂️
Hi Thomas, firstly thanks for subscribing dear boy very much appreciated, hopefully yes new video’s will be coming soon, I’ve sadly been suffering with a nasty strain of Covid last year and still fighting it, that said I’m not that far away from being physically good enough to start back on the boat, I’m desperate to get back doing her 🙏. Thanks once again Thomas
@@philmurphy3549 sorry to hear about your struggle with COVID. I hope you have a good recovery. I will look forward to seeing your future videos :) Best regards
Hi John, thanks for that point, I’d sort of thought of the possibility of using hinges, but I’m not sure where I’m currently living,we’ll come across many tunnels, that said you’ve made me think I should check tho 😂👍🍻🙋♂️
Hi Bartverhaagen, hopefully starting work again next month, just getting over the Covid, had a bad time with it over the last few months, slowly getting back to normal 🤞🍻
@@philmurphy3549 Oh dear Phil hope you are soon feeling better. I'm still on with the Viking 23 project but little has been done for a while now due to work taking me away from home :(
Cheers Mark, yes itching to get back, just need to improve a bit more , energy levels diminish so quick it sets me back days, but I’m heading in the right direction. I’m envious that you’ve got your boat on the water and hopefully enjoying her, so we’ll done 👍👍
@@philmurphy3549 that's great... I'm planning on watching them a second time, my brain sometimes needs a reminder. It'll be nice to have a new one at the end. 😁
Hi Richard, yes all is well thank you , no boat action just yet but hopefully we’ll be back on it soon, just had to sort out two mg’s I own . Plus now John has more free time we can film the boat Restoration.👍🍻🙋♂️
