In general, this is one of the most useful videos my subscribers should watch. If you ever need to remove the exhaust manifold hose/pipe, there's a hard way to do it and a really easy way. Save yourself a huge headache and watch this video.

What happens or should the rubber hose that’s bowed out get and charcoal build up like really bad. Would that cause the block to crack

You mentioned you had another part of this video. I need to change my rubber couplers you called them. What are the actual names of them?

All clamps should be opposed, not just offset. Never set together.

Hi Michael, I'm curious about how the floor between the seat boxes was completed and tied into the exiting fiberglass. I'm also curious about the gelcoat application in that area when the time comes.
@michaelromer2016
@michaelromer2016 5 лет назад
I've used Gelcoat before and this time I'm using epoxy paint instead. Reasoning: I'm using epoxy to bond the Kevlar and not polyester resin. All wood is attached using stainless steel screws. Then bonded to the original parts of the boat with a epoxy/cabasil thickening agent. I recommend you start at the first part of the series and work your way up to 71. I go over all these step in each video.

Thanks for the reply Michael, I’ve watched every one of them, but I’ve either missed the episode that clearly shows the bow as it’s tied in, or you haven’t posted it yet. I’m about to start the grinding phase of my rebuild and had to do the exact same “surgical” removal of the bow floor, which is why I’m asking.

@@tomvandenbosch8560 I'm working on that video. I have finished it though. In this project, I got all into Kevlar and epoxy only--for everything. The bow portion is probably something I would have done a little different. No in terms of the removal, rather the reinstall. You will see it in the video, but what I would have done was used Kevlar epoxy in the one spot and 1708 in the part that blends in with the gel goat. I'll explain more in the video--coming soon. Just for you :)

Don’t feel bad, I’m sure every project has its share of ups and downs. I just had a downer in discovering that about an 8” vertical by 4” horizontal by 1/8” thick section of my transom around the bowling pin has delaminated on the port side, probably due to freezing from a wet and rotted transom. 😭 Thankfully the hull was built like a tank so I should be able to repair it, I just needed to walk away and vent! Love this series and looking forward to your next installment!

@Michael Romer For a 87' OMC 5.7 with electronic ignition rebuilt by Jasper what should my timing be set at idle for regular 87 gas?
@michaelromer2016
@michaelromer2016 5 лет назад
Start off at 6 degrees above TDC and get out your timing gun to fine tune it.

If anyone knows how to remove the tiller arm I think it is. The are the goes directly from the steering cable to shaft that goes through to the steering knuckle mine has a washer looking thing with a grease fitting on it is the best way to describe it I have tried everything to get it off and I can’t if anyone knows how please let me know it would be greatly appreciated it’s on I believe an 85 Volvo penta with cable steering obviously I have talk to many that have asked me if it has cable steering so I figured I would say it has it I can’t find anyone that knows how up where I live

What year, model, and outdrive model is it on the boat? The steering slightly varied in how it was connected on 270's thru 290's. It also changed depending on single prop or duoprop (Volvo penta). This is all assuming that it is indeed an inboard/outboard. Also, when you say tiller arm, are you referring to the unit INSIDE the boat that connects steering to the outdrive, OR, are you talking about the steering unit that holds the outdrive entirely by itself and on the hinge pins of the outdrive?
