Hello,
A couple people asked so, I'm selling because I seem to be just working all the time. I used the boat very little last season and this year, I never even put it in the water. No other reason.
I've owned many boats. I bought this one as the ultimate cruiser for me. I like the Formula style and big block Chevys. Not an old man's boat. The exhaust has open tubes that are underwater when going slow. When you start to get on a plane, the tubes are out of the water and the boat sounds like a B52 taking off. Then, when you go full throttle, you'll hear that screaming race car sound. There are few boats on the lake that can keep up with you. A new boat similar to this would cost over 100,000 dollars. There is not a single bit of wood to sand and refinish every year. I like the self bailing cockpit. Rain water that hits the deck over the engine or anywhere in the cockpit area drains out through deck drains and doesn't run down into the bilge. I remove the canvas rear cover and side curtains when on board and roll them up and put them away. I can sit in the shade when I've had enough sun. I put the side curtains back up, leave the back open and sit and watch the rain. The center front windshield can be opened for some air flow and rain doesn't enter. I like the wide swim platform. I have a roll up 8' dingy with hard transom. I can roll it up and strap it down to the swim platform and store the 6hp motor and gas tank on the deck under the folded out rear bench seat. I can unroll the dingy and fill it with air right on the platform. I put a large cooler filled with ice on the rear deck too. The walk through transom door is so much better than climbing over the the back of the boat. Easy on and off at a low floating dock or when swimming. All stainless hardware every where, even the frame for the canvas. There is an autopilot mounted at the steering wheel. Nice hands free cruising across the lake while eating lunch or tending to chores on deck. The inside of the hull is completely covered with a foam backed liner for insulation and sound proofing. It provides a comfortable and quiet interior. I really like the anchor windless. climbing out on deck to launch and retrieve the anchor can be a dangerous chore. I see many boaters that only tie up from dock to dock and never enjoy a night on the lake or stopping anywhere that requires dropping anchor. The boat is big, but not so big that I can't single hand it anywhere. I can go through locks and dock it without assistance. The radar arch on this older style cruiser slants toward the rear. You may see new style arches slant forward. I feel the rear slanted style provides maximum room for boarding from the side of the boat and allows for that nice canvas overhead. I moved all antennas to the top of the arch. This makes sense to me. I don't like them mounted on the side. This is not a car with the antenna on the fender. When mounted on the side they can be in the way while going forward and people grab them as a handhold. There are some things that I wanted to do on this boat that I guess I'll never get a chance to. I wanted to sand off all of the original Imron painted stripes and repaint with a more modern looking paint scheme. I wanted to finish installing the engine heat cabin heater with a defroster vent and foot vent at the helm and a vent inside the cabin. While looking toward the rear of the boat, I got my port and starboard backwards while describing a few things in the video. The cabin heater would be connected to the starboard engine with temp and fan controls at the helm. Also. the on-board battery charger is a two bank charger. The engines charge all three banks through the combiner, the generator provides 12v to charge its own battery, power its fuel pump and keep its fuel shut off valve open. The generator also provides power to the on-board charger to charge the other two banks. The stereo is really nice as is. But, I also wanted to add a couple speaker in the radar arch and put an IPOD type connection at the helm. I planned to add a couple of stainless air horn trumpets under the radar on the little arch. In the long run, I planned to pull both engines, not that the engines need anything, I wanted to paint all the bilge area, replace and re-run some pipes and wiring, remove the old holding tank and two engine room blowers and replace with new and add some custom storage lockers in the sides where the gunwale steps are. Some of the engine room sound proofing is gone, but it is not loud at idle or slow speed. I would not add back the sound proofing and I would never run the generator all night so it is not necessary to me. I would have liked to remove the dinette seats and recover them. I would have liked to install a nice access hatch in front of the cabin bilge pump.....
Well, enough dreaming. Its making me sad. I hope you buy a boat and have as much fun as I did.
