Mark heads to the public lands and waters of Alabama to learn how to hunt southern public land whitetails by boat. He'll have one day to study under water access specialist Parker McDonald and then he'll head off on his own to see if he can kill a deep south buck himself.

Mark is a hopeful hunter, a nervous hunter, and when successful… a lucky hunter. In other words, Mark is a real hunter. Thanks to MeatEater and Mark Kenyon for bringing us quality (real) hunting experiences to enjoy.

My favorite thing about Mark is how seemingly bad he is at hunting deer, but still loves it. Lol. It's a nice change of pace to see someone else suck at hunting. Like when Steve goes, it's mostly a foregone conclusion there's an animal getting killed. With Mark, I'll be rooting for him and then he'll shoot a tree. Lmao. I love it.

lol was thinking the same thing with him wearing no gloves waving his hands all around chatting with his buddy while sky lit in a 6 inch tree. I laugh ever other scene with the lack of hunting sense, that's why mark is entertaining his inability to have any hunting senses at all.

@@robgrubb420 I think sometimes you put way more ability on a whitetail then they care about. 95% of the time they could care less about camo. I agree the movement is a lot but I find it hard to argue. A lot of deer get killed by people just walking around. But camo and gloves just make us feel better. That’s about it.

This is one of my favorite shows to watch. Mark puts himself in tough hunting situations for whatever reasons. But it’s better than some dude sitting over a bait pile or bean field only shooting booners. I appreciate the hell outta this show. It definitely shows what most of us hunt like.

@kalmond1
@kalmond1 Год назад
This is about the most realistic and relatable hunting show there is. This is real world hunting - not having 1500 acres of private land of unpressured deer that you can give bucks cute names and then watch them grow into the 190 inch class at your leisure. Thank you Mark for sharing your experiences with us!
@pieceofparadise9338
@pieceofparadise9338 Год назад
Unpressured bucks mean they are wild. They act wild, they don’t like hanging around people. Which means they are also hard to hunt.
@kalmond1
@kalmond1 Год назад
@@pieceofparadise9338 You are correct that any wild deer is hard to hunt; even ones in suburban areas who are used to people, there would be a degree of difficulty. However there is no question that some deer in some areas are harder to hunt than others. For example, these deer in this video over deer on a giant, private farm owned by someone with the last name Drury or Lakosky.
@pieceofparadise9338
@pieceofparadise9338 Год назад
@@kalmond1 So if you had the ability to buy a 1500 acre private farm in Iowa or Missouri with no fence you wouldn’t do it? I don’t know the drury’s or the lakosky’s personally but I do know they have dedicated all of their time and money to growing big bucks and they now make a living off of it. I’m jealous, and I wouldn’t call what they do leisure.
@kalmond1
@kalmond1 Год назад
@@pieceofparadise9338Yes, I absolutely would buy 1500 acres and do what they do if I could. I'm not saying that at all. And what they do is far from leisure, you are very right about that. Having to manage and farm all that they do is a lot of work - more than what 99% of the rest of hunters do (myself included). But as far as realistic hunting, what they do compared to what was in this video as it relates to the common hunter (especially those that can only hunt public land) there is a big difference and that's why I say it's not real world.
@chrisengart4371
@chrisengart4371 Год назад
I totally agree with B Radley's comment. Mark is a real hunter and I appreciate him showing the struggles and reality that is hunting and not just the show version where they get the big buck. I really gotta give this guy some respect for showing what most shows dont. For the average hunter it's often more failure than success. When ya do get the shot and you think it's good you end up w and instance like this where is wasnt as good as you thought. It's not you clothes or equipment, tech or scent control. Its hunting and playing the cards your dealt. That's all most of us have. Not multiple farms and cel cams. Those few days you take off work hoping to get lucky.
