Thanks for the upload. There is such a stark contrast in the presentation of pro wrestling back 30-40 ywars ago compared to today. I was watching modern Big Japan yesterday, it was a comedy show.
The more I get older, the more I think Karl Gotch and Lou Thesz were correct. Too many "dancers" and not enough wrestlers. I try not to be a snob about it but watching guys like Darby Allin or Will Ospreay is like watching a completely different type of theater
@@kicksubmissionsuplex1700 Definitely, Gotch and Thesz were two of the all time greats. Also with guys like Billy Robinson and Harley Race, tough men. Even with a dramatic style like King's Road, Misawa, Kobashi and Kawada brought gravitas and seriousness. Now, too many want to entertain instead of show a fight.
This is one of those UWFi matches I can't quite read. I assume Funaki is pissed since Backlund is hamming it up a bit because those shots look stiff. But at the same time I feel like Backlund would be more serious and on the defense if the shots were that bad. And there's a photo of him post match and his face is really banged up.
