You KNOW Bob misses the roar of the audience when he'd come through the big doors, and I'm sure he misses hosting The Price is Right, wish some other guy was hosting The Price is Right, like maybe Tom Bergeron, or Todd Newton
I dunno if you know, I apologize if you do, but theres youtube videos on Tom Bergeron talking about how they asked him to host. They really wanted him to do it, and he wanted to do it too, but his schedule just wouldn't allow it. I wish he would have gotten it too. I don't HATE drew like many do, but others could do it better, for sure.
I do like how they rephrase things. Bob Barker was the star of The Price is Right. Drew Carey is the host of The Price is Right. Johnny Carson was the star of The tonight show. Everyone since was the host of The tonight show
That's by design, though. They changed it to not onky feature contestants more but to fit Drew's style better. He's more of the host of a wild party he invited you to. The camera work changed during the intro too. Great distinction of the contrasts of styles (Bob would've never allowed all the set changes that began happening after Drew took over, but that's also what makes the two styles so unique and interesting to compare).
I like Drew Carey, but he's got the personality of a dishrag and he was never the right choice as Bobs replacement, but then again who is? Bob was irreplaceable.
As I understand it, to acknowledge the audiences who came to see him through 6,586 broadcasts on CBS, which have included many magical moments with him, Johnny Olson, Rod Roddy, Rich Fields, the models, the players and everyone who was with him through all of his 35 years there (many of his audiences had plenty of college students as well who came to see him and wanted to meet him).
