Bob and Chris Elliott guested on several shows in May and June 1989 to promote the release of their new book Daddy's Boy. Here are the shows I have:
1. May 24, 1989: Late Night with David Letterman
2. June 9, 1989: WRC-TV, Washington, D.C. (courtesy Richard Handal)
3. June 12, 1989: Tonight Show (Jay Leno, guest-host)
4. June 22, 1989: Later with Bob Costas

I know this wasn't necessarily meant to coincide with Thanksgiving, but thank you for these 'holiday' gifts, Don. Your uploads makes it a little less lonely for those of us who celebrate the holidays alone or away from family.

I bought this book when it came out...it was great! I DO remember one more promotion that they both did together for the book. They appeared on the Saturday afternoon NBC Baseball Game of The Week. I think they introduced the starting lineups....and of course Chris got all the names wrong like he had never seen a baseball game before. 🤣

“Lighthouses. A good part of it’s on lighthouses.” His first rebuttal chapter starts with a bunch of obscure musical references then the bulk of it is indeed on lighthouses. And his goal of starting a finnan haddie festival.

The whole book thing was such a savage satire on "Mommy Dearest," and if you didn't remember the whole controversy on the book about a Hollywood child of Joan Crawford and the authenticity of the book's charges, it might fall flat. But for those who remember, this is great stuff. In the end, it really shows the actual father son connection between the two. A very skewed but loving tribute between son and father. A lot of Letterman "admissions" here that give a clue into his part of the show's success.. One of the many essential pieces of the success of the Late Show.

It looks like Chris bought his clothes at the Oliver Hardy estate sale.

Jay Leno is totally uninterested and uninteresting. Bob Costas gets it.

Leno brought absolutely nothing to that segment. Costas played along. Bob really explored Bob Elliot’s period covering Clapton’s Cream.

34:45 - I'm SO happy, after all these years to hear that The Guy Under The Seats originated from the Mole People. I can sleep much better now! Also topped off with a rebuttal to Dave's bullsh*t!

the Finnan Haddie Festival hahaha...sounds like the off the wall weird stuff that Bob & Ray would do.

Where did that clip of Marlon Brando dancing in front of a grass hut come from?

Probably from Chris hosting Friday Night Videos. All three of his host appearances are elsewhere on this channel.

My favorite book of all time. Leno was terrible with them, how do two comic legends fizzle in an interview?
