My wife passed away many years ago. This song has always been my connection to her. Brings tears to my eyes when listening, but that's ok. Always loved, never forgotten. ❤
So hard to miss someone you loved endlessly, perhaps even more when there still here but far away, I can't compare to your story, but I can comprehend at least we have the tunes, love you to the end of time N ♾
One of the best films of American cinema. This on of the most underrated films in history . Speaks profoundly to the flawed human condition whereby the triumphannt liove of these two characters superceeded the flaws and misdirection that life presents us all. Uniquely superb and rare that dissolves in the murkiness of a celebrated sense of being despite all the pitfalls.
Well said though I don't agree it is underrated. Unless you are referring to it not winning the Oscar for best picture. Personally, I like to see good films, performances, etc. nominated but really don't care what wins. Regardless, I know this movie is a masterpiece with stellar performances across the board.
I really believed these characters. The pain they both felt. Overcoming mental illness to the best of their/our abilities. Heartbreak and daw redemption aren’t easy. Silver linings hard to find.
Or how hard it is to really overcome it. The main character does so many things to try and fix his life like forgiving his wife or being pro active but it is revealed that this is more delusional than actual realisation. Jennifer Lawrence tries to fill the hole left by her husband by sleeping with many men only for them to abandon her and use her need her desire to not be lonley.
Hang in the brother. You will look back on the things that where so hard to go thru, then you will be like wow,I can't believe i made it thru this, be good to your self your worthy,
I wouldn’t stop watching the movie and listening to the songs and the dialogues as well. Everything is perfect. All the actors are fabulous. Thanks for giving us such a beautiful movie❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Was quite the movie... Despite their differences, their volatile/messy nature brought them closer, and made them be the best versions of themselves. Superb acting!!! :)
If you're travelin' in the north country fair Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline Remember me to one who lives there She once was a true love of mine If you go when the snowflakes storm When the rivers freeze and summer ends Please, see if she has a coat so warm To keep her from the howlin' winds Please, see if her hair hangs long If it rolls and flows all down her breast Please, see for me if her hair's hangin' long 'Cause that's the way I remember her best I'm a-wonderin' if she remembers me at all Many times I've often prayed In the darkness of my night In the brightness of my day So, if you're travelin' in the north country fair Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline Remember me to one who lives there She once was a true love of mine
@@pauliecopez2683 That's great. One of the tricks Silver Linings Playbook uses to cloak its formulaic, arthritic bones is a deceptively fresh angle that attempts to render it relevant to the modern-day consciousness, being that of the scarily destructive nature of mental illness. Rather than acting as a tool to unearth the fragility of the human psyche, the effect is the equivalent to Dirty Dancing if Johnny Castle was crippled by, say, Tourette syndrome. Despite this, audiences still gobbled up this story because it was quirky - because it was kooky - because it celebrated letting your freak flag fly. A closeup of Tiffany’s non-conformist black nail polish will jackhammer that into your head for you. As will Pat’s rebellious ordering of Raisin Bran on their first non-date, or their left-of-center public rock-out to the White Stripes.
@@michaelmiller7160 I think in your attempt to sound intelligent you failed by having no real meaning from all those big words. I think if you were really that smart you would write a script so good. We would all weep reading it. But alas, you won't.
@@JamesJoyce12 I have to say one thing that I hope you will take to heart. Please don’t judge a man unless you have walked a mile in his shoes. When you really fall in love with his heavenly side is when you hear him admit that he didn’t treat his daughters right. He wasn’t always good to his family. Why? Drugs and drinking. Wow did he love June Carter though. So much so that he died within 4 months of her dying. Johnny is always honest and I have yet to catch him in a lie in his interviews. Let’s give it up for The Man In Black!!!
One of the greatest songs off all time. This was meant for this movie. I don’t need guns, explosions, violence, terrible language or nudity… this is how you make damn good movies.
One of the treasures of this screenplay is that both people are very ill, and yet very talented. When they dance together it's just magic. I think even the judges at the dance contest saw that.
I listened to this, Girl from The Norh Country, this afternoon, after seeing Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash sang it on Cash Biog. I cried. AS I haven't heard it for so long. I have many Dylan Cd's Dont play them often, as I now dont want to remember.
The music, and film are both tireless. One is always finding something new, in each viewing; or, hearing the music. Best of all, they work together, beautifully... ~~CR~~
@@Apokalypseplease You're missing out on a great flick. But then again, I'm a big softy for these kind of films. My wife thinks I'm a pussy, but I'm just a romantic.
Amongst the many talents they share I love the distinctive, original, one of a kind voices they have. They're my all time favs w/ Neil Young, another distinctive voice, 3rd. This is the first I've ever heard of this movie. #Boffo. Love the cast. No wonder it was so widely acclaimed.
The part at the end when De Niro gives his speech to Bradley Cooper saying that he was wrong about JL, that you only come across love like that once in your life and that Bradley Cooper needs to run and get her is just as genius.
I remember this night well - the night Dylan appeared on Johnny Cash's show to sing this. I was in combat medic training in TX. I went AWOL for 2 hrs - snuck out of the barracks to watch this through the day-room window! Then I was off to Vietnam a few weeks later. Mamn, takes me right back there.....standing in the dark....
Loved this song back in Dylan's Freewheelin' Days. Like to think it was about Suze Rotolo who features with him on the cover. Can't explain why I felt so sad at her passing, maybe reminded me of my own mortality.
Finally gave this movie a watch and damn I wish I could’ve watched it sooner def will watch this movie once a year its just a feel good movie with raw real emotions shit that could happen in real life such a good song if you have bad anxiety or bad emotions watch this movie
Back in 1968 a singer named Tom Northcott from Canada had a big hit with his rendition of "Girl from the North Country". This song was tailor-made for his voice.
I can't fear the boatman or the grim reaper, please save me a nice seat in heaven where I can see her. Love you forever Nicole, I've always adored you, until the end of time💙
Johnny Cash called Bob Dylan the greatest song writer of our time. Dylan wrote several songs for Cash and Cash gave him one of is guitars. Giving away a guitar like that back on those days was considered the highest honor one could receive from a country music artist.
The music was so well done in this movie, especially this fabulous song. There is a video of Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash singing the song on the Johnny Cash Show. Bob Dylan looks quite young. Such talent from both of them and their voices go so well together. Silver Linings Playbook is such an outstanding movie with great acting and direction. You can watch it many times and it is always fabulous.
Great song! Easily my favorite Dylan. I'm a sucker for a good love story even the sad ones and this one feels so genuine. If you've lived long enough you know the simple truth that carries this song so gracefully. Great movie! Great movie! Excelsior! Redemption! Love! Not to mention The Coop, the ridiculously talented and sexy Lawrence. De Niro.Tucker stealing scenes like they were his all along. Bradley Cooper- -I'm beating the song! I'm on the scoreboard! I'm playing downfield!
Lyrics: If you're travelin' in the north country fair Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline Remember me to one who lives there Oh she once was a true love of mine See for me if her hair's hanging down It curls and falls all down her breast See for me that her hair's hanging down That's the way I remember her best If you go when the snowflakes falls When the rivers freeze and summer ends Please see for me if she's wearing a coat so warm To keep her from the howlin' winds If you're travelin' in the north country fair Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline Please say "hello" to the one who lives there Oh she was once a true love of mine If you're travelin' in the north country fair Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline Remember me to one who lives there Oh she once was a true love of mine A true love of mine A true love of mine True love of mine A true love of mine A true love of mine She was once a true love of mine
