SETLIST AND INFO BELOW
This is a request, and a great request it is! There's probably no other tape out there with such an insight into how Dylan collaborated with other musicians. In this recording, we hear Dylan teaching and working with Robbie Robertson as they both try to iron out a few new songs (none were ever released, but they are all spellbinding nonetheless). This is the entire session that was recorded at the North British Station Hotel in Glasgow, Scotland on May 13, 1966. It's astonishing how beautifully tender Dylan's voice is here, almost like a choir boy. If any are interested, I have great footage of the last song: • Bob Dylan - What Kind ... .
SETLIST:
0:00 - I Can't Leave Her Behind
7:34 - On a Rainy Afternoon
9:10 - If I Was A King

In the English-speaking workd, Dylan is regarded mainly as a wordsmith; but to the rest of the world who catch only a word or two here and there he is considered as a gifted melodist and phrasing master vocalist. "I Can't Leave Her Behind" is such a stellar example. Snippets of this melody would turn up again in "You're A Big Girl Now" from the hallowed Blood On The Tracks.

not true, at least any english speaking musician recognizes dylans musical ability if be was just a wordsmith than why arent audio recordings of poetry with music accompanied hitting the charts

Bob Dylan - a beautiful soul with so much good qualities, peace ambassador, truthful, compassionate...songs cover a variety of human condition, history, philosophy, truth and lies and between open for us to understand between what is right what is wong. Bob Dylan is the tree trunk- we all can become the branches by sharing with others. Beautiful and meaningful poems and songs are the best medicine without the harmful prescription. Thank you ! @Susie Fairfield, don't know if your father has passed from this realm, it's 5 months later ❤️ We are eternal beings, your dear father still exists but not in the 'meat suit' God gave us to experience physical sensations & free will You will be together with him again, grief is normal and one day you will have good memories..& not dwell on the negative. In my humble opinion suffering in this life is essential... it's all a test to see if we choose the good, true & beautiful. Bob definitely knows this & your so did you father... Apologies for long condolence, too much espresso ~ I'm overly caffeinated ☕☕☕ You will see Grandpa Joe & Grandma Anne again too. Flowers for them too 💐💐🌱💐💐🌱🌼🌼💐💐💐🌼🌼🌱 PS: Apologies for typos & grammatical errors, if I reread this I wouldn't SEND. "I've had several friends have "Lay Down Your Weary Tune" sung or played at their funerals, parties, whatever they pre-planned. Had to be the live '63 version. His simple strumming & emotion portrayed everything the fancy overproduced version never did. Peace & Blessings 🕯️✨🕯️ ✨🕯️ ✨🕯️ ✨🕯️ ✨🕯️✨❤️✨

It's so funny how he's singing and explaining what chords he's playing inbetween the singing parts after being asked. You can hear how he is shifting between a musical conversation and being completely in the music. Kinda exemplifies how singing and playing music is such a different state and wave length to be in and on than just talking, but also how the two cross over.

Art in progress, meticulously crafting the desired unison between the words, the rhytm, the inflections, the music, following hidden emotions on many levels, trying to hold on to the right thing, ignoring what doesn't fit, trucking on to create what feels exactly right, for a moment, does he know where it goes, where it ends and it always ends. Very special to hear this from 1966. Those years of abundance and madness, what a contrast with what we heard from him in those days, still having time to work on ditties, fully concentrated on things that would be left behind. Did he know? What was it? Just passing time, with some friends, enjoying making music.

This is certainly proof final that Dylan had the perfect voice for the condition of the world. Thank God for his commitment to his vision of a world needing untampered with love. I still cover his songs as a busker. I have been blessed with the ability to channel bob . Sometimes when I can't reach the hearts of the rushing passers-by, I whip out my battered Lyrics of Bob and next thing, I look down in my beggar's fedora and Voila, like magic there's a million! No lie. He does so much for our sad and happy world

This is a piece of gold . He played too 'When Will I Be Loved' , a Phil Everly cover . The jam session was created because Dylan needed some acustic new songs for his commisioned ABC TV film 'Eat The Document' which finally rejected it as ''incomprehensible for a mainstream audience'' . Dylan himself directed the film with D A Pennebaker's assistance . There are many bootleg versions , one of them made by Dylan after his crash motorcycle in Juni '66 and another was made by Pennebaker years later and released only as a bootleg edition . Remarkable is that this jam session was two days after the infamous concert at Free Trade Hall in Manchester on 17 May 1966 when someone in the audience shouted ''Judas '' to Dylan (was included in film) . Another sources date this jam session on May 13 , but I suposse it was on 19 May because that night Dylan played in Glasgow , and this was recorded in a Glasgow hotel room . 'On a Rainy Afternoon' was composed by Dylan and Robbie Robertson and 'I Can't Leave Her Behind' was performed to the soundtrack film 'I'm Not There' (2007) by Stephen Malkmus (US band Pavement) .

Beautiful. That first tune's melody line almost sounds like Blood on the Tracks meets Brian Eno circa 1974. Well to my ear anyway. 😎 And the last one (What Kind of Friend Is This) is pure 1950's rocknroll Buddy Holly style. PURE GOLD! It's fascinating that he doesn't know the chords he's playing at times. "Some weird minor chord". He's playing by ear and by feel. I wonder if he even knew whatever he was playing on the piano too or just having at it until he'd find something he liked. Leaving those around him to sort out the chords and follow along.

1:57-2:07 is one of the most beautiful nuggets of music I’ve ever heard. Following Dylan's creative musical process proves to be a difficult task even for the very talented Robertson. Could hear slivers of frustration in Bob's voice as Robbie struggled to get the bridge. I've heard other masters (Jordan, Kobe, Gretzky) dealt with similar challenges regarding those around them.
