Most songwriters have muses both cosmic and human. John Lennon and Bob Dylan had many - including these two women - Suze Rotolo and May Pang. The pair had written their memoirs that provide 1st hand accounts of the artists, their lives, their influences, their inspirations. Rotolo's book is titled "A Freewheelin' Time" and is essential Dylan reading. "Loving John" by May Pang falls well short of Suze's tome. In this segment, broadcast on May 11th 2008, from CBS Sunday Morning features both women talking about their famous lovers. WOIO-CBS to PC. Total digital recording. Note portions that had "Don't Think Twice" + "Blowin' In The Wind" blocked the video and had to be edited out.....drat! #bobdylan #johnlennon #thebeatles

Somebody once said that the best thing is to wish that you outlive your biographers. A wise comment indeed; not just because your biographers can and do lie about you when you are no longer around, but because outliving your biographers makes it clear that your art is far more important than anything they can ever write about you.

Well somehow Suze contacted me in 1987. She was trying to reach Bob Z and since I lived somewhere close enough to "Grenwich Village" where they were addressed she called. I have the same name Bob Zimmerman. Somehow she couldn't reach him. And after missing her phone calls, listening to them on my answering machine, eventually she left a return number so I called. Suze was on the line and I was kind of in shock. But she mentioned that she sent letters, which by chance I actually received. I sent them back without opening them. So later when I saw her on the documentary "No Direction Home" it was a relief to see that she seemed to connect with him, but I don't really know for sure if she did.

@@mirriholm6411 I have been very fortunate in many ways to experience the world in a way that was unique. One foot in manufacturing and the other in culture. Besides connecting with new friends like you folks, the "new digital life" has re-connected me to many whose names are scrawled in my journals.

PS: thanks for the clip (as always!!!) PSS: After you're done archiving your videotapes, I should send you mine! lol. (if I can find them!). Not Cleveland, but would be NYC-metro area broadcasts from the same periods. Really grateful for everything you post: little (and sometimes big!) pieces of the jigsaw puzzle.
