I have always thought that this song was an original song by Adele. The lyrics is so poetic. I can just sense so much love when the writer was writing it.
Billy Joel released the first version in 1997 about a month before Bob Dylan released this one. I've also heard it covered by an Irish singer named Mary Black. I think it's a song that sounds better with a female singer.
My boyfriend used to sing this song for me while holding me and while i had my head lying on his chest, whenever i had anxiety or was feeling sad. I don’t get anxiety attacks anymore, but we are still together - and i know he would still sing to me if i asked him to. I love him.
John Arwine ...in a perfect world. Neil Young is another good example and I'm fed up with all the ”pretty” so called entertainers that put out mediocre commercial pop.
John Arwine It was a different time then when there was no music video and the focus was more about the music. Now it’s style over substance. Sting once said that he didn’t think he would be a rock star in today’s day and age. Probably true for lots of successful artist back then as they didn’t have the right “look”. I went to see the Eagles in concert for example and the whole concert was a bunch of guys just playing and singing, no dancing, no stage show...boring by today’s standards but the music and artistry was incredible!
I love the real grit in this song. Guitars not completely in tune and funky. His vocal phrasing is second to none. Bob dude you are a national treasure. Keep on keeping it real.
My dear friend Julie, sent this to me after she asked the LORD what song to send me as my Birthday gift! I grew up with Dylan ...never heard this song... but oh what a gift 🎁 ! God Bless Us Everyone !!!
Wow - I did not know Bob wrote this song !! It’s a classic - like so many of his. I adore Blood On The Tracks - every song is killer. Blonde On Blonde is also a brilliant album. The guy is a genius. Rxx
Am always moved by the poetry in these stunning lyrics - and some wonder how it is Dylan was awarded the Nobel. And his voice is perfect for the lyrics.
Today is the 16th of October 2019 and 261 people don't like this. It never ceases to amaze me how people can't take authentic poise and talent. And to my friends that question Bobby's voice, his C is a C. His G is a G. What?
"Life Itself" brought me here, both literally and figuratively. Loved the movie. Just finished watching it and had to hear this. I'll pick up the CD tomorrow.
Sir Bob, . . . Jodi from MN, Wright Co, . . . I am only one in a hundred million or so . . . these lyrics and movie kicked my rear. . . . you were a few years ahead of me, . . . yet right on. live long my friend. jodi
When the evening shadows and the stars appear and there is no one there to dry your tears, I could hold you for a million years to make you feel my love. This line is like a knife into my heart.
Yeah Philip, like Bill Murray said in 'Groundhog Day'..." I'm A god...not THE God." Dylan's voice has had quite a life. In this song, the richness of feel is as real as it gets. From his first album, Bob has always been as real as it gets whether you like it or not. I like it.
Right, isn't God, but he believed in God before he wrote this song and Dylan may have written this song from the perspective of Jesus Christ, telling sinners that they can both know and feel his redemptive love. Yes, Bob became a Christian about 20 years before writing this song, and others like; "Gonna have to serve somebody" - www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=gonna+have+to+serve+somebody One of the verse's, “I could hold you for a million years” is something only God could do. Another verse, “I'd go hungry” was when he fasted 40 day’s Still another; “I’d go black and blue,…crawling down the avenue” can be from carrying a heavy cross he was to be crucified with, down the avenue called, "The Via Dolorosa", Latin for "Sorrowful Way", and he made it "all the way", for you (as Dylan say;s) "to feel my love" Then last, but not least; “Go to the ends of the earth for you”, as when Jesus told us to go into all the world and preach this good news, John 3:16.
There is no God. All we have is a short 80 years (if lucky). Better not spend countless hours on ancient writers from the year 200 AD, when we have geniuses like Bob Dylan who put the writers of the Bible to shame. And no stonings or slavery or smiting when we focus on songs :)
@@petratical I am a worship leader in our local and have played this song as God speaking to you, in fact I am going to use it again next week. I love it.
When I think of Dylan, like Tom Waits and Neil Young, he would have no business being a singer if he wasn't such a brilliant songwriter. When someone does a cover, they can only improve the vocals on a perfectly crafted song.
In a crazy kind of way it just works for the strains of Dylan's raspy voice to evoke the feelings these beautiful lyrics present....He feels it and makes me feel it too.
I actually thought Adele had this as an original until I saw some other older versions on RU-vid... but it still surprised me when it was sang in the The Voice blind auditions and introduced as a Bod Dylan cover.... I mean Blowing In The Wind, Desolation Row and Mr. Tambourine Man were personal classics but... Gotta collect everything Bob Dylan after this...
Like my buddy likes to say "if they think I'm going to work the day this great man passes on to the next level, they are sadly mistaken". That about sums my feelings up for the man. Life would have been far less brighter without Bob. So grateful to have been in the room so often witnessing him ply his craft. It's going to be a sad, sad day. I can't imagine living in a world without Bob Dylan, but suppose he will always be here with his music and words. "It's not dark yet, but it's gettin there"
Do you know what Bob Dylan did right? Everything. He chose to be himself. That means it couldn't have been any other way. And that is why he so great! Hey BD fans... really groovy song... Summer Days. Have fun!
I so prefer his version to Adeles he is so sincere. I don't understand people complaining about his voice or saying he isn't a singer. His voice is distinctive and that thing he is doing with the words set to music is the definition of singing. I have seen him live also it was a concert he sang and played guitar he is a musician for those of you that do not understand he writes the songs too if any of you can imagine such a concept.
As an earlier poster said: Bob Dylan stated himself that Garth Brooks’ version is his favorite and is the way this song was meant to be sung. Adele tore it to pieces...and not in a good way.
Dylan and Cohen were two of our best lyricists, musicians. Both so often covered by vocalists considered to have “ prettier “ voices- but they were wrong. No one compares, comes close.
This is the best version ever, played this at my husband John's funeral(tho I dont think he would ever have gone hungry for me 😂)and roll on John. Very special songs to us 😀
New generation of younger like to hear Adele version, but it was Bob Dylan that started it, this song is a classic older then Adele, and Billy Joel did a take on it so good.
When the rain is blowing in your face And the whole world is on your case I could offer you a warm embrace To make you feel my love When the evening shadows and the stars appear And there is no one there to dry your tears Oh, I hold you for a million years To make you feel my love I know you haven't made your mind up yet But I will never do you wrong I've known it from the moment that we met No doubt in my mind where you belong I'd go hungry; I'd go black and blue And I'd go crawling down the avenue No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do To make you feel my love The storms are raging on the rolling sea And on the highway of regret The winds of change are blowing wild and free You ain't seen nothing like me yet I could make you happy, make your dreams come true There's nothing that I wouldn't do Go to the ends of this Earth for you To make you feel my love, oh yes To make you feel my love

I have been blessed because I can say I have been loved like this 4 times in my life. And 2 of those loves had nothing to do with sex ..just true friend ship
I am 70 years old. When I was at school my English master allowed me to debate the merits of Dylan's lyrics in class. He did concede that His Bobness could turn a phrase or few, but, overall, he remained unimpressed.
Bob Dylan has a Beautiful Voice and a very Handsome Man...He is a magnificent Storyteller and yes he can surely Dance...He can play the piano, guitar, harmonica and lord only knows of his limitations if he has any...I never thought he received the recognition he deserves because of his humble heart and his desire for his personal space...The thing is he is still a mystery...That's not what made him Great...Musicians everywhere have recorded his music without giving him recognition...However, when he sings his own song's it's as though you're in his Heart and swept into his life at that moment in time...Not many Musicians have the ability to take their audiences on journeys through lyrics and melodies but Bob Dylan does just that...
Very few people write a song of a life time. I’m talking a song that people will remember for their whole life. A song that people play at important events in their life weddings, funerals etc. Bob Dylan has hundreds of said songs. He is the most important person in music to ever live. Well maybe Woody Guthrie is because with out woody their is no Bob Dylan the way we know Bob Dylan.
Cuando la lluvia sopla en tu cara When the rain is blowing in your face Y el mundo entero está en tu caso And the whole world is on your case Podría ofrecerte un cálido abrazo I could offer you a warm embrace Para hacerte sentir mi amor To make you feel my love Cuando aparecen las sombras de la tarde y las estrellas When the evening shadows and the stars appear Y no hay nadie ahí para secar tus lágrimas And there is no one there to dry your tears Podría abrazarte por un millón de años I could hold you for a million years Para hacerte sentir mi amor To make you feel my love Sé que aún no te has decidido I know you haven't made your mind up yet Pero nunca te haré mal But I will never do you wrong Lo supe desde el momento en que nos conocimos. I've known it from the moment that we met No hay duda en mi mente a dónde perteneces No doubt in my mind where you belong Pasaría hambre, me pondría negro y azul. I'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue Iría arrastrándome por la avenida I'd go crawling down the avenue No, no hay nada que no haría No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do Para hacerte sentir mi amor To make you feel my love Las tormentas azotan el mar ondulante The storms are raging on the rolling sea Y en la carretera del arrepentimiento And on the highway of regret Los vientos del cambio soplan salvajes y libres. The winds of change are blowing wild and free No has visto nada como yo todavía You ain't seen nothing like me yet Podría hacerte feliz, hacer realidad tus sueños. I could make you happy, make your dreams come true Nada que no haría Nothing that I wouldn't do Ir hasta los confines de la tierra por ti. Go to the ends of the Earth for you Para hacerte sentir mi amor To make you feel my love Para hacerte sentir mi amor To make you feel my love
I beg to differ, sounds just fine here:musicmegaboxeng.com/song/172499-wedding_song/ still a tad nasal but with a conk that size no surprise lol ;)@@abelesser69
Garth Brooks blows this away. Bobs voice wasn’t his strong suit. But I’ve said my entire life Bob Dylan is the greatest songwriter all time. I just found out yesterday he wrote this one too. No one comes close.
As stated, this isn't the studio version, but it's still fantastic. To me, no-one sings it better than Dylan. Having said that, I've just released a cover of it myself on my RU-vid channel and would love your comments :-)
To me, Dylan's vocals oft exceptional in conveying wide spectrum of emotions across his vocal range, tempo, diverse music. Albeit I prefer his younger, less ravaged, vocals
2:00 Storms are raging on the rolling sea, and on the highway of regret... the winds of change are blowin wild and free, you ain't seen nothing like me yet...
Whenever I hear this song, Make You Feel My Love, I know it’s a love song from Jesus. The words and music are so powerful and demonstrate the unconditional , undying love He has for us. This song is a blessing Bob Dylan has given to humanity, showing the love Jesus has for us.
Having only heard of this song from Garth Brooks and Adele and then hearing Bob Dylan's version for the first time is sublime. The guitar parts waver on the edge of out of tune and his voice is so unique. He sings the lyrics in a way that feels spontaneous, as if he found the words while waiting in line at the grocery check out. So cool!
I dont think that he think about having a great voice. I know you dont agree but I believe that everyone has a great voice. Voice is what we are born with. The feeling we get from listening or singing that is just different from person to person. Anyway. Just loving it without listening to what others might think or feel that is very nice. Sing just for the fun of it. Today we have so much effekt that it is hard to hear the actual voice of the person. Well. That is what we like these adays

Add to this list for me... all the song writers that make you say "wait, this song too?" Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Bruce Springsteen (seriously, google it), Dolly Parton...
if I could pick one song in all of history that I would like to have written it is this one. a lot of songs have made more money. . more royalties. . .but this. . .name a more beautiful love song. . ."crickets chirping"
Philip McG All I Ask Of You, I Can’t Make You Love Me, Hopelessly Devoted to You, Weekend in New England, One Day In Your Life, We’ve Only Just Begun, Feelings...
I agree. Probably the best love song ever but I'll give you a couple of close seconds...."Anyone Else But You" - Michael Cera and Ellen Page from the movie Juno and "I'll Stop the World and Melt With You" - Modern English. That's the top 3 :)
After Bob picked up that 64 Strat at Newport Folk Festival, he became this influence in music that will be felt for a long time. Long after he's gone his influence and music will inspire future generations. Hope to keep him here a bit longer. Not only is he an amazing musician but an amazing considerate wonderful person I have the privilege to call friend
Looking at these pics of a young Bob Dylan make me realize Timothee Chalamet would be a perfect choice for a biopic. They definitely have similarities.
