www.OroRecover... - In this video clip, Bob Forrest talks about how "getting sober" can be easy, but "staying sober" is usually much harder to do.
This was recorded with a small group of young people in addiction treatment at our Recovery Center outpatient facilities in Los Angeles, California.
Bob Forrest is a co-founder of the Oro House Recovery Center program.

People often ask about the difference between alcohol poisoning and hangover symptoms.
www.OroRecover...
It's important to know that a treatment program is necessary for a full recovery. Getting sober by simply quitting drinking alcohol can result in dry drunk syndrome, and some of the symptoms will still remain.

For many people, it's necessary to complete a safe and comfortable detox before beginning treatment.

Anything is better than quitting cold turkey. But I’ve only experienced quitting cold turkey never prescribed subs or methadone

Getting sober is very difficult Staying sober is EXTREMELY difficult But dealing with life & my own perception of myself is definitely easier & life isn’t as frustrating as it was before. It’s still difficult & frustrating but not to that level

I call my current prescribed methadone the "old ball and chain". I'm reconsidering my approach entirely

The only thing worse than a crippling addiction is the cult of recovery and sobriety.

Recover is annoying but I think it’s that annoyance that motivated me not to let my life deteriorate like I did in the past so I don’t have to deal with that same annoyance (sober living/ being forced to go to AA/ living with mentally unstable people)
