i actually got to hear this played live back in october 2018. i saw him live at jazz alley in seattle. omg what a great show it happened to be. great concert. would love to see him again.

Actually a lot of artists sample their own work in an original work. That's not to take away from Bob James he at the heart of some of my favorite hip hop.

I've listened to this composition over and over. Tasty and tight. I would also enjoy hearing a FourPlay rendition as well with maybe some horns and guitar featured. Bob is a master composer with his funky 70 something years young self.

From a website: Keyboardist Bob James has been sampled in hip-hop classics from Run-DMC’s “Beats to the Rhyme” to Eric B. and Rakim’s “Follow the Leader.” An agogô-bell breakbeat from one of his recordings has propelled tracks by N.W.A. and A$AP Rocky. No jazz artist has been sampled more than him. The term “godfather of hip-hop” has even been tossed around.

I know everyone is already saying this, but it is cool that Bob James put "Nautilus" (one of my favorite, older Bob James tunes) into this groove, incorporating it and basically sampling himself. Bob James is one of the first jazz artists I listened to before getting a collection of over 1000 albums of jazz musicians (have sold and given away most of them to others). Bob James is extremely under appreciated as a jazz musician, composer, and piano player. (And how many hip hop producers have sampled his work?) This trio was smooth and cool.

¡Claro que sí! Sólo opaca su actuación verse tan vulgar masticando chicle. Horrible costumbre que data desde los Aztecas, en México. Las ptostitutas aztecas tenían la costumbre de pararse debajo de un árbol para ofrecer sus “servicios”. Regularmente se paraban bajo un árbol llamado “Chicozapote”, en sus ratos sin clientela tomaban lo que se llama la “savia” y que brota de esos árboles, al igual que brota la “trementina” de los pinos, y la masticaban. Después aprendieron a tronarla y con eso les insinuaban a los posibles clientes, que estaban libres y disponibles. Regularmente en las películas donde salen prostitutas, salen éstas masticando chicle.
