This is the corned beef hash recipe I cooked for Paul on the banks of the River Esk. It didn't make it into the show so I've filmed it by a pond in Surrey
I was Bob's postie for a little while, such a genuinely nice bloke, an absolute national treasure for sure... I could listen to him talk about absolute anything, subscribed instantly.
@HeedArmy83 When he didn't tip me for delivering his newspapers in all weathers, i tried to throw a balloon full of stale piss through his sitting room window, only for it to bounce off and soak me and my bike. I'm not the sharpest brick with the lights off or something.
When he says shops, he means the shops that have sprung up, as commerce has inevitably emerged amongst the people of the vast swath of land within his fiefdom. And the oil is but one surf's proof of fealty.
My Grandad made this every time we all visited and stayed for the weekend. It was mine and my siblings favourite meal ever. We would sit and eat it while watching Cartoon Network before bed.. I’m 36 and wish I could do it again.. god I miss him
I miss the pasties that my mum's mum used to make, the most delicious you'd ever eat. And the ham, egg n chips my dad's mum would make for my brother and me on the odd occasion she and granddad would pick us up from school when we were very young, it was a simple meal but made with love. I know I'd have thanked them for the meals at the time, but for how precious the memories feel now I'll never be able to thank them.
This man has my time because his genuine nature shines through like no other ever has for me. I hope he never stops wanting to give us his company. It's always welcome in my home. He's better than bacon. I really fucking love bacon.
Bob’s had a RU-vid channel for a while under the name “Cliff Cloth” and he uploaded a few short sketches years ago. When he uploaded this, he made everything else private and changed the name to his own. For example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-01VCymIxUwI.html
I've always wanted to learn how to make corned beef hash, and I genuinely came onto RU-vid to learn. I saw loads of genuine chef videos but ignored them all as soon as I saw Bob had done his own video. Glad I did.
After 20 years away from England this video is such a blessing. More unprepossessing yet mythical yet mundane yet transcendent chat while doing whatever you like please Bob. Love it.
Bob is adorable. He makes me laugh even just cooking a hash. I've been watching a couple of old Shooting Stars episodes this evening and have been laughing my socks off. I loved that show. Thanks Bob for always cheering me up. 🧸
Wow so many memories, Bob back in full swing with his dry sense of humour. And good old corned beef hash. Travelling to Lancaster late at night to arrive to my grandads hash. Tab end stuck to his bottom lip throughout. It was the best welcome ever (secret ingredient we all swear was real ash😂) what a legend Bob. So glad your health has improved we missed you. ❤️
True gem of tv this fishing show was. It was so humbling and relaxing to watch. Just two good friends. The beautiful scenery of a British lakeside and a few beers and food. That my friends is what life is about
My missus was talking to Bob on Monday this week he came into our pub the Endeavour, the first pub he ever had a pint in. He’s writing a book so he was down in Middlesbrough researching. He often pops in to see her. Legend.
I ❤️Bob Mortimer ☺️ I have been watching a bit of ‘Reeves and Mortimer’ on you tube, I’ve got loads to catch up with to my delight 🤩. Getting us through these crazy times. Thank you 😌
He's a total gem, is Bob...(tho tbh I actually prefer the rain-water version). Genuinely one of my all-time comedy heros! Hilarious in everything he does...comes across as such a lovely fella too. Incase he actually ever reads this, I thank you for endless funny memories, Mr Mortimer. :)
It will take sometime for me to get over the ecstatic feeling that this hearty meal preparation gave me. In the light of day Bob Mortimer can do nothing wrong, in the dark of night however he has tripped over a few slippers. The banks of the mighty River Esk will never have the flavoursome waft of good cooking wisping around it's river banks again. Thank you Bob for a rather un frisky meal prep catch up of days gone by.
I would advise anyone who hasn't watched "Mortimer and Whitehouse Gone Fishing" to do so. It is not all about fishing, but more a couple of mates out enjoying themselves on the banks of rivers and lakes. And there is more of Bob's cooking.
This was wonderful, Bob. I met you on WILTY and now I feel like I know you. Lovely lady friend enjoys your food too. My husband will love this .He's from London. Merry Ann from Minnesota
An nice mini episode. I hope you're making another series. A great success for everyone involved and its great to see Ted's bomb making getting its much needed recognition at last.
My late old man showed me how to make this as a teenager. I will say, you’ve done it quite a different way Bob, but thanks for the memories! I will definitely try adding some pickle next time! 👍
Always a place for corned beef hash. It’s real soul food. I always liked Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer but watching the episodes made me love and respect them both even more. Great characters both.
Love Bob. I think his secret is he's so genuine and his decency comes through the screen. Peter Kay has a similar quality. Most people in show biz are actors . Bob's fishing program is a classic. More people need to know about it. Christmas special was class. Only came across this today
Nothing wrong with corned beef hash, lovely meal and that one in particular Bob looked gorgeous. Love this guy, Bob is by far one of the nicest funniest kindest people I have the pleasure to know of 👍
Loved the Christmas special. Lots of really touching moments in there. When's the next series going to air Bob? Both my wife and I are looking forward to it. Two really nice guys: one of the funniest men alive today, and one of this country's finest character actors (OK, so Paul's funny too!) enjoying their surroundings, enjoying their own company and enjoying their friendship. It's good, gentle feel-good telly. What's not to like?
Bob, I hope you continue this! It was a pleasure to watch you cook sir! Please consider doing more for your loyal fans and simple chefs. Lots of love mate
Love it Bob, one of my favourite comfort foods as well. I like to brown the onions before adding the spuds for extra burnt flavour, and add a bit of sage (ideally Sau sage, available at the shops)
Really similar to how my Nan used to make them, love it. Only difference really was she put a bit of egg white in and made them into their own little individual burger patty shapes. You could get proper burn on them then, flipping them loads. Bit of gravy....whoa. I still remember licking the bowl of the potato/beef/onions...better than licking cake mix.
The wife and I, being over in America, have only been fans for a relative short time (about 12 years or so ... having seen Bob via RU-vid on 8 Out Of 10 Does Countdown ... or some such) and I have to say we are loving this. Any amount of Bob Mortimer is a good amount of Bob Mortimer. Hope you post more soon, sir! EDIT - Forgot to say that I had never heard of Branston Pickle prior to this, but now I have to find a jar and try it :)
Look for the show he did for two seasons in the early 2000s with Vic Reeves: Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased). The original series from the 60s was pretty good, too.
@@73dlb Honestly, in a severe case of "old man brain", I forgot to write it down or ask the wife to help me locate some. Hahaha I have just now remedied that... written it down both here on the desk in front of me but also by the wife's laptop, so when we next do a grocery/shopping list we can look for it. Thank you so much for the reminder :) I shan't forget again!!
Great work Bob! Me and my wife are so glad to see you've made a youtube channel. Looking forward to seeing more! Never had corned beef hash but now that may change. You made it look so good.
Brilliant. As someone who has never cooked for himself but likes a bit of solo camping, things like this really help. I like how you use a single burner and just two pans. Thanks very much.
Good afternoon ❤️ 💕 well done. Love watching you cook. Loved this, and it's a trip down memory lane for me, thank you. God bless you and keep you safe 💕
