The dismantling of David Mitchell's sanity by Bob is the best side plot in British tv history

SIDE plot? It's the main reason I watch British panel shows!! It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen! I swear if I ever meet Bob Mortimer, I'll find a way to be his guest on WILTY for the "this is my..." segment so we can drive David crazy! It is one of my favorite things in life!

After the first couple episodes I saw with Bob when I realized he was on Lee’s team each time, I wondered if they decided to keep it that way because of the hilarity that ensues when he’s pitted against David. I really, REALLY hope that that’s true too because it definitely makes it funnier 😂 any other recurring guests typically alternate teams even if only one or two times… but nope, Bob is against David eeeeevery time, and it’s genuinely funnier and funnier each time. I love how after a while David starts explaining to any new team members how they need to be careful with Bob’s stories and he cautions them and everything, to the point that the new guests get equally ramped up with David 😂

One of my favorite things about how he tells his stories is that, particularly when he’s telling the truth, he always says/does these little things that make it seem like he’s having a hard time pulling off the lie. Whether it’s because of David having way too good a question and he’ll kind of stumble over the answer, or he’ll pick the card back up halfway into the questioning to “double check” what he’s supposed to be talking about, shit like that. With almost anyone else, it would be a genuine response because it is in fact a lie, but NOPE. Bob does it on purpose whether it’s true or not, and he does it SO. DAMN. WELL!! He’s a freaking genius

My administrator asked him the name on the card [there was a bit of a security issue going round] and he replied in a quiet but serious tone, "Mr Robert Mortimer." Everybody burst out laughing. He didn't find it funny at all [and why should he?], but he looked around and Jim was giggling and people were leaning against counters and shelves or doubled over. Eventually he giggled too. Now that we've heard about Harry Harriman (?) more than once on this show - I really want them to bring him on the show as a special guest 😅

The first one 🤣🤣🤣 David losing his marbles almost with the story being the truth… I’m living for Bobs ridiculous stories ending up to be the truth and David’s reactions of them being true 👍🏼🙌🏼👏🏼🤣🤣🤣 And even more when they wind up David a bit more just for fun 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for the almost hour full of Bobs entertaining stories of truth or sometimes lies 👏🏼🥰

6:34 - The gas canisters came into it because that’s why he cut off the kiss due to the impending danger. Which then set off cougar woman. Which then prompted the fleeing long walk journey to Newcastle to see Tommy by The Who.

0:12 David laughing after realizing the predicament he’s in, and going “Oh, God!” is a great way for this compilation to start, especially for those of us who’s seen many of David v Mortimor WILTY clips!

I don’t think I knew about issues with his health, and now I’m sad. I don’t even wanna google it because I don’t want to find out something terrible and be sad. I will definitely cry when he dies, I cried when Sean Lock died

I love watching Bob really appreciate someone else's joke. For example, David's billionaire joke at 10:50. Everyone else on the panel is listening for David to continue explaining, but the whole concept clicks for Bob so immediately that the opening line is the punchline for him.
