I like how Bomb-Omb Battlefield is so realistic that it looks like an actual trench warfare, but the Chain Chomps still has the cartoony design with a new and shiny coat of paint.

Personally, I thought the Chain Chomp looked a bit out of place in this environment. Would have been cool to see it more rugged and realistic ala the Pokemon movie.

It's like how xenoblade mixes its anime type looks with characters, and a realistic world, by having the characters be anime and having some rather complex and somewhat realistic material outfits. It connects the styles. Think how fossil fighters did it. You did it awesomely!

This truly looks like a Bob-Omb Battlefield and I am all for it. Bright colors like in the original 64 version just don't scream "battlefield," and 64DS' version was onto something when they decided to desaturate the ground. And now seeing your vision of the iconic level leaves me a bit speechless. You've outdone yourself with this stage. You've even added trees in the out-of-bounds areas where all you would see is the skybox. I can't wait to see what you can do with this stage during animation with the 64DS crew.

If I didn't know that Super Mario 64 existed or noticed the floating island and Chain Chomp, I would have asked where this is geographically, it looks so realistic. For the first second or two, I legitimately thought that it was someone's backyard or something

WOW. For more than 20 years, I have dreamed of the day when game graphics would approach photorealism as we see in this trailer. One unexpected benefit from having such good graphics is the context which a careful observer can gather. After seeing the level redone with state-of-the-art graphics, it was immediately clear to me that the area was a mine and that Bowser had most of the Koopas working on mining some kind of valuable mineral, but I was never able to deduce that in the original game despite seeing the level hundreds of times because the graphics are so bad. Thanks for putting this together!

Seeing some of the defenses rendered this beautifully makes me wonder how the stage would look with, well, more. Fitting for a painting and for being the first level, there's a large emphasis on the landscape and framing a path rather than a full battle. Would a true Battlefield other weapons, or would any Bob-ombs explode at a few seconds' notice? Should more locked tunnels cut through the lower levels? Perhaps turn the King's crown green? P.S. A moment of silence for that Koopa Troopa...

wow, every single texture remake in this video is SO amazing! and i just love every single detail added here:the chain chomp having a dry bones nearby to look more deadly, the torches in the red switch place, the boulders around the stage that make it look like an actual battlefield... I don't think this is something akin to mario odyssey like the description says, this is BETTER than that! amazing work!
