YT is like any other big site, requiring ads no matter what the creator/uploader wants lol. Inevitable march towards forcing us all to either view ads (makes them money) or have a subscription to be “ad free” (makes them money). I will say I fell asleep to your fantastic vid and woke up to use the bathroom 3 hours later, and if there were ads I didn’t notice. Hopefully you’re successful in your endeavors, but in the meantime I’ll give you my perspective-for many years I’ve put on the longest video I could find, turned the device facedown and slept all night to it playing continuously. If I was woken up with a blaring ad I left the video and didn’t watch anything else the creator put out. It’s why I don’t watch Twix. BUT: I believe the person who put in the time and effort should get compensation. So I propose this, if it can still be done (I believe at one point it could). Choose to have all your ads at the beginning of the video. Have a few. Have several. Whatever. Just get them out of the way. Most people shouldn’t mind, they’re still awake, perhaps settling in, getting comfy, and tbh the security of knowing you won’t be rudely startled out of sleep by ads is an underrated comfort a lot of people may not even realize they’re feeling while listening lol. I predict a time in the future when people who do what you’re doing will be titling their videos with “ads at start only” (or similar) to indicate you’ll get them out of the way so there aren’t anymore, as YT strives to be more and more like Twitch and similar sites. All of us should be keeping our fingers crossed they don’t take that choice away from uploaders altogether, if they haven’t already. This is just another annoying aspect of capitalism we either accept by following the rules or reject by throwing our devices into the ocean lol. Great choice eh? 😂

I feel you. If I wake up and find the 5 hour runtime has finished I consider it a major accomplishment these days. Beyond simple insomnia, dunno what's wrong with me dammit. I can't sleep more than two or three hours at a stretch w/o waking up anymore. 😴😳😖😞

I slept for 3 hours in and wasn’t woken up with ads. Maybe it worked!

I've never received a dime from these videos. My channel isn't currently monetized, which means any ads shown, go right to Google, not me, and not Bob Ross, Inc. I'm trying to get monetized so that I can hopefully force Google to demonetize these videos forever.

fyi- these blacked out vids are made specifically for those of us who don't sleep well, and use Bob's calming ASMR audio qualities as a sleep aid. And there's a *lot* of us, apparently! 😴😳😖😞

@@udsmall7306 that makes sense I’m a sleep issue type of person also, but I’m funny in the way that I love to watch him paint and still go to sleep, i’ll watch for a while and close my eyes and go to sleep and set my phone timer for two hours so that it will go off and not stay on all night

I am one of those who listen only while I sleep, I don’t watch anything. I used to just lay my device facedown so I couldn’t see the glare from the light of the video lol. I’ve been doing that for many years. I guess there really are more of us than I realized! 😂 EDiT: on weekends Bob is streamed on Twitch nonstop if you want to try that out, but unless you have a Twitch account and are subbed to his channel you’ll get ads occasionally. I think you can watch vids there without an account though.
