Everyone’s rookie mistake with Bob Ross paintings is skipping the first step: doing a full coat of white so that the canvas is wet. It makes it infinitely easier to blend after you do that!

A HUGE reason y'alls turned out so different than Bob's did is because he used the oil paints. Bob's paintings require ALOT of blending out. And because acrylic paints dry so fast it is hard to blend with them. So even though you don't like oil paints as much as acrylic, it may have still been better to use the oils when doing this because, as I'm sure you know, oil paints take FOREVER to dry which allows you to blend pretty much as long and as much as you want or need.

Mama has a gorgeous river, but Mia has a beautify blended sky. They are both nice in their own unique ways. The winner here is us the viewers, because we get to see the wonderful relationship you have with your mom.
Mia is being too hard on herself with the final product, her mountains look good!! It's hard to paint on a wall when you've never done it before, it's such a big canvas to work on. Well done, both of you!
Im convinced that anyone who follow Bob ross tutorials their’s paints are gonna look great no matter how bad or good they are at painting 💞💞💞🥺 I guess im gonna buy some colors and try to do some painting as well💓✨✨🍬
If you do acrylic be careful of dry time. That makes it really hard to blend the sky. But also when doing oils remember that Bob Ross typically does a layer of white paint before anything it helps the paint blend smoothly. While you can’t really do a white layer before painting with acrylic because it may dry on you before you finish it.
@@watchlovestanexo they do make mix ins for acrylic paint (I do acrylic) that slows down the dry time a decent amount (read directions before mixing) but that makes the blending easier as well as a fine mist spray bottle to go over the surface with! Only a very LIGHT mist of water makes acrylic easier to move around. Dont add a layer if white if you use acrylic it dosent do the same thing oil does again just use a fine mist spray bottle over your canvas and it will have a similar effect, don't use to much water though or else ull ruin the integrity of the paint. Oil is easier for his paint style but you need a well ventilated area when using oils, they are also flammable and can take days to dry! But regardless of what you decide to use you will do great!(:

I like both versions but I love how Mias lake/stream just defies logic of nature and the water level goes in two different directions 😂 Like it is called level for a reason 😂
I’m an artist and both paintings are beautiful. Art comes in many forms. They are both beautiful in their own special way. We all have different touches, and brush strokes. Not one piece of art is the same as another. You both did a fantastic job! You should do a canvas and see if you developed some techniques. Every artist knows there is ALWAYS room for progress. We never stop practicing and we grow as we go. My art a year ago looks nothing like what I do today. Just don’t stop practicing.
I am in love with mia’s channel it’s been 4 years and I haven’t missed an episode. I sit and watch you and your mom laugh for 20 minutes it I had to. Love everything you do.
Not gonna lie, when I saw how ya'll did the sky, I knew this wasn't gonna go well 😂 But honestly good job because a wall this size is ambitious and the painting is pretty good

They needed to prime the canvas with gesso white or at least white latex paint. Bob always primed his canvas. Most painters do. I use oils and oil pastels, primed canvases are a must.
Bob Ross would never laugh at others art, he would be proud to see you try and give your own twist to what he teaches. He would be happy to see others explore their creativity~

I just LOVE the relationship between Mia and Mama Maples! My mom and I had the same...but she passed away last year after a 4 years' battle with cancer. Watching these videos of Mia and Mama remember me of the good times I had with my mom, moments that althought they won't come back, I will cherish forever 😔❤️

I love mia’s top half with her mountain range and sky but I love her moms bottom half with the landscape and water. Put them together and BAM beautiful!!!
