April 28 I get my last call as a police officer with an agency I’ve served for over 25 years which means I get to retire. This is not an easy career. I don’t care where you serve but had good moments and bad and as my journey ends, I’m looking forward to getting another mountain bike and riding the trails up in Copper Harbor Michigan, and this is one of the songs that I want to hear. As I’m running to the trails and overlooking the beauty.
Aug. 18, 2021 I hung up my duty belt after 34 years. I miss by brothers and sisters dearly but this song lifts me every time I play it. Plus Kenny A is a beast on the drums!
I agree. Bob is a brilliant song writer. There is nothing I don't like about him including his personal life. Boy would I ever love to hop on the back of his Harley with him and ride off.
It was 1983. I was 18 and rode a Honda CB 500 all the way across this country... many miles listening to this song. Finally I was free from my parents. Omg thank God.
Cool 😎. I had a HondaCB500 and in Newport News VA one night, I got passed by a pack of Harley Riders and they had spurs on their heels and shot sparks all over me. I wasn't supposed to be on the road, just 17, and it pissed me off. Wasn't nothing I could do about it tho 😮
My husband Gareth & I played this over & over on cassette in the car back in the day. Lost him in 2020 to pancreatic cancer at 58 yrs old. Love you Gar. Miss you every day love❤️❤️
Every song that this man has wrote takes us through a journey in our minds and souls. What; a brilliant writer Bob Seger is.. Let me just say everything he has done is beautiful stuff. Bob Seger is a true legend in my book...
+Gypsy Mama Indeed! Indeed! I'm 45 years old and I have memory's when I was 5 or 6 riding in the country with my dad enjoying the country and summertime listing to Bob!
+Purplehaze5562, you definitely got that right! He's an amazing musician and many of us can relate with his lyrics! I have yet to be able to see him in concert, but he's at the top of my list!
I started listening to him when i was like 3 my mom had bipolar and would get us out of bed to clean the house and cranked his albums and all the other unbelievable music of the 70’s !!! Im 57 and so grateful for her craziness because it made me love so much music and its still my favorite genre late 60’s and 70’s
I don't understand why there's so much bad music out there when they have a perfect example of how it should be with Bob. Thanks for 47 years of music and 30 of your concerts, Bob NEVER disappoints.
l agree with you, indeed Bob Seger is a great and talented artist who's songs never goes out of style, he's one of my favorites artist, he's songs still and always heals the Soul, I pray God gives you lot of beautiful days.
What a great talent Bob is. Others have said he was never flashy... a common man who made himself into a musical icon forever. God Bless you, Bob, for all the beautiful music.
Bob Seger wrote about life. You may not have experienced the exact situations he wrote about, but we all experience the choices and consequences. It touches everyone because of that. If you don't like Bob Seger, you haven't lived and therefore cannot understand. He is amazing at touching the heart of the human condition.
my mom passed recently and listening to bob reminded me that she raised me on the best music a girl could dream of. she gave me good roots and I wish I could tell her that.
Thank you,and yea she really did have great taste ,not just in music, but in a lot of things,I was truly blessed to have her.I can listen to Bob any time is good.thanks for your interest and care
"Stood alone on a moutain top starin' out at the great divide". Only Seger could paint such a beautiful picture of the intangable feelings, emotions, and freedom of riding. Takes me back to some of the best times of my life. Bob you make all our hearts sing.
A song of the enduring human nature of true freedom. My favorite performer & song. Thanks Bob it'll always be in my play list & played @ my funeral.....
My husband wanted "Roll me Away"on his tombstone. I put it on there for him. We loved listening to Bob Seger every chance we got! We have a lot of memories together over our 36 years listening to him!
hey guess what, iam 68 years old ,and took my 5year old son to his 1st concert at 5 years old, yes it was bob seager,he is 40 now and still listens to the best rock and roll star on the PLANET!! GOD BLESS U BOBBY
one of the greatest songs ever by one of the greatest songwriters and singers ever. The epitome of classic rock...gives me chills every time I listen to it.
At 59 yrs old I'm sorry to say I've never saw you in concert ever 😢 .But how ever I've been a faithful fan & I love your music since 1976 I was only 15 yrs old !☺ Bob Seger I love you!!!!
Wow Thanks so much for your love and support all through this time’s.... it’s been a wonderful feeling 🎼 for my beautiful fans around the world. Though I rarely comment here... I’ll like we get along and stay in touch 🥰...... where are you streaming from?
No flash. Just a songwriter that knows how to perform. After all, who needs dancers and big screens or pyrotechnics when you're real? So many artists out there these days wouldn't know an honest lyric if it hit them smack dab in the middle of their face. Half of them can't even play instruments. If you want to be a legend, you have to be good at the basics. And Bob is best.
I just saw him LIVE Saturday....... I STILL HAVE Goose bumps. I said the SAME THING. He is a littler grayer, but HE STILL OMG amazing.. I have to say HIS FANS are some INCREDIBLE PEOPLE. He did not even need a mic. That entire Room was singing WITH HIM and we really could not help ourselves. It Did not FEEL like 100.000 people, it Felt Like the MILLIONS OF TIMES, we pop in the 8 track. in the yard, [this is 40 Years of ADORING this man and his band. ALTO hmmm yum sax. ok dating myself 8 tracks were just starting to go to casset tapes, when I fell in LOVE with Seger. I Wore out cassets listening to him. and Seger along with Kris Kristopherson, were THE FIRST cassets, I turned into CD's Your sitting remembering, reflecting and Next song, on our Feet screaming. It was a FULL ON Standing ovation, from 'Old Time Rock and Roll.' and it was only ONE of MANY Full On Standing ovation My Husband lost a DEAR FRIEND, and that made a couple of these songs, not difficult to hear, but more reflective, then they already are. [he loved Seger BEFORE we Met] {I Loved Seger before we met] Our 8th date in six weeks, we Eloped. Celebrated 33 last month. Our first vacation together, We Burned up Seger's Greatest hits, in the truck stereo, touring ruins. Broke another [remember how they used to tear and you pull and pull and pull, Looooooonnnnnnggg things of casett tape, HOPING It did not get stuck????? OMG, THANK YOU Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet. Lucky Us, we are Clear FULL OF SEGER Music. I HOPE.... YOU HAVE A LONG LONG LONG AMAZING RETIREMENT.
I remember this song when I first heard it, it lifted my soul then, and now I am in my 70s. I still ride my 2 wheeler and listen to the music of one of the greatest story teller ever to grace this earth. I hope his music last way after my last ride on my bike.
carolinaphil , my dad is 75, still rides a 2 wheeler! he never listened to rock. Ever. I played this for him a few mpnthscago. Before a ride. He closed his eyes, and for the first time ever, I saw tears. He looked at me and said change of plans. instead of a 30 mile ride for lunch, we logged 380+ miles!
Might be repeating myself here, but didn't get into his older life versions, but think his younger years studio/video is still addictve.Of the best, easily
Bob's music SAVED MY LIFE.... LITERALLY SAVED IT. I would not be here today if it were not listening to his songs in the depths of my depressions. Gave my HOPE and reason to live while searching my soul and the meaning of my life. GOD BLESS YOU BOB. I WILL BE FOREVER GRATEFUL FOR YOUR POWERFUL MUSIC AND LYRICS.
This is one of the most memorable kick ass songs in my life's history. I'm 49. Wow. Loved this song in high school. Bob propelled me spiritually. Great artist.
My patient was passing and I gave her daughter a radio to soothe her soul. This song was playing and she passed peacefully...it was beautiful. Hospice nursing is a gift to mankind.
One of my favorites, being both s biker and traveler it's like he had a way of putting what I wanted to say ina song what s artist, painting s picture with a song, love and peace to you all in these turbulent to times💖🕺🕺☠️😎🌟💪🥧🔥🐯🐥🌹☕💘🌄
That’s why he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004! He is the best. I, too, requested Roll Me Away for my funeral. Please Bob 1 more tour.
Sweet idea! I'm 75 and in great health right now but it's time to start some planning. I'm going to make a video with MC pictures and that song as the theme.
I'm 36 years old, and here I am blasting this song. It's hard to put into words but i'll try. Growing up my parents were always listening to this, always going out on rides and long trips on the Harley since the day I was born. It was always nice to see them dancing in the living room, or just hanging out having some drinks listening to Bob Seger. Dad was a Vietnam veteran, 68'-69', he was a Marine, a grunt. March 13th, 2016 he was out on a road trip with friends, on a ride to Mexico. 2.5 years later, we miss dearly, it hurts. We will never know what happened, there was an accident and my dad is gone. Somehow they were split up and he was alone on those dangerous roads country roads in Mexico. My only guess is that someone came into his lane and his only choice was to veer off down into an area filled with boulders. I haven't ever really spoke of this, but this song and moment brought me here. I always just remind myself that he died doing what he absolutely loved most, being free and riding. Ride safe, be safe, watch for motorcycles. Semper Fi.
I have watched this video over 30 times on one day alone! I LOVE this song, music, video!! Me, a little Black girl from inner city, listened to #RollMeAway #LikeARock. #WeGotTonight all the time. Still listening today! #MichiganBornAndRaised
My dad had all the double-albums.every Friday night he put the speakers on the porch. We lived on a huge mountain so he turned it up. That's never left me. 70,80,90 , My dad is gone but, the classic rock will always be there.Taking it to the end
Hello Janekellie-uh, how're you doing, Your comment caught my attention and that is why I am reaching out to you. Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you!❤️
l agree with you, indeed Bob Seger is a great and talented artist who's songs never goes out of style, he's one of my favorites artist, he's songs still and always heals the Soul, I pray God gives you lot of beautiful days.
This is my life song, my White Swan bowing to a life filled with all of its wonders. Next time we'll get right. Thank you to all that are here to listen with me...
Who remembers Bob Segar when way back when he was with Bob Segar and the Last Herd and did Heavy Music, 2 plus 2, Persercution Smith and so on and would play at places like The Hideout, Grande Ballroom, Crows Nest. My 1st and only introduction to actually meeting Mr. Segar himself, I was walking in the Crows Nest and he invited me into his Van, there was another guy there and was asked if I would care to smoke a joint with them. I did not even like Pot but what the hell? These places where bands like Segar, Alice Cooper, SRC (disliked), was for under 21, Ted Nugent (Can't. still can't stand) just pop but had a black room, dance floor, tables, it was a really cool place. I'm 68 now but still think it was cool. My claim to Fame sitting in a van w/Bob Segar and smoking a joint. I will remember that as along as I can. Mr. Segar, not a chance. Thanks if you took your time out and read this.
I’ve loved this song for years but this is the first time I’ve seen Bob and his band perform it live and it’s absolutely superb! I just wish I could have been there. Extremely talented musicians.
Thanks so much for your love and support all through this time’s.... it’s been a wonderful feeling 🎼 for my beautiful fans around the world. Though I rarely comment here... I’ll like we get along and stay in touch 🥰...... where are you streaming from?
I saw Bob do this twice. In his show he had a young lady on 2 large drums, and when he sings "next time we will get right" that young hit those drums so hard, her feet leave the ground. It was unreal! What a song!
Bob Seger put on one of the best live shows out there. Not a whole lot of flashy graphic stuff in the background, just good pure music and he really engaged with the audience. Glad I got to see him in his (our) younger days. If I danced now the way I did then, I'd probably slip a disc or something.
I had seen every tour since Against the Wind, and I also Queen 77,78 &80. Different styles but I believe Bob had at least as much charisma as Freddie (IMHO more)
Seen Bob Seger in Houston back in 80’s before he quit touring and it’s still one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to , and he did not 1,2but3 times coming back out to give us so much music it still makes me smile thinking about that concert . He is Rock and roll totally
I went to every tour since Against the Wind - every show was great. Even at 74 in 2019. I saw Freddie Mercury with Queen 3 times. Bob has more charisma - different styles. He exudes joy, as does the band. Great songwriter, singer and entertainer
I use to live by him my bf worked at what was Farmer Jacks he would shop there n fans would go up n bother him she had to intervene but said he was very nice...true story. 👍🏻
I have ridden a motorcycle since I was fifteen years old. I am sixty-eight now. I have had many enjoyable rides on bikes I have owned. This song epitomizes the freedom motorcycles give you. I have always said riding a bike is the closest thing to flying without leaving the ground. Bob Seger is THE MAN. A great song.
l agree with you, indeed Bob Seger is a great and talented artist who's songs never goes out of style, he's one of my favorites artist, he's songs still and always heals the Soul, I pray God gives you lot of beautiful days.

In 58 yrs, I've never heard another song that hits me like this one. The words, the style, all of it,...so good it still nearly brings a tear to my eye. If you've never seen Bob do this one live, you've missed out, big time.
Went to his final show in Charleston south Caroline I was 70 years old. What a ride. He was the best! I grew up with best music in AMERICA and I loved them all but The silver bullet was the best. Thanks for the beautiful ride.
