It works for season 6 and 12 but the reason it didn't work for this season is because of that awful first episode that dragged this on for too long.

Me too. I know all the queens really well now and I've already memorised all their names. Before they did the team splitting thing with previous seasons I could barely remember their names and would forget the queens who went home early. And with this when the queen goes home first, it doesn't feel as sad cause they at least got to show a lot of their drag that they paid a lot of money for.

I feel that 1st episode felt like it didn't matter because noone went home, there weren't any stakes for losing the lip sync, it felt like it was pointless.

I liked it for the same reasons but 3 episodes is a bit much. And Kahmora could have gone home.

Can I just say that this also helps queens to get more exposure especially at times like these.

Monet really should have come up with a better reason cause just cause a lot of queens know that dancing is on this show and they dont know how to dance , they may do well but they are a lot younger than tamisha.

@@eltbeast9841 gigi’s snatch game was also rewarded because she took a risk and it was something ‘different’ from past winning snatch games even though hers wasn’t the best. she wasn’t being graded on the quality of her celebrity impersonation because her character is just a straight up robot, and it’s honestly so easy to do her snatch game (just say sassy things in a monotone robot voice!). I personally thought Jackie was the funniest by far, but picking a housewife as a character was a very predictable move. With drag race, the concept is at times more important than the execution.

I agree with you. I feel like it’s important for all the queens to at least get few more episodes of screen time before going home, especially for the queens that would otherwise be eliminated on the first episode. As an audience, I find it nice that they did this. I hope they do this especially for All Stars, I think it’ll be even more impactful there. On the other hand i think the reason why Bob and Monet aren’t exactly fond of this is cause they were contestants themselves, so to them this just seems unnecessary?

I agree!! It makes someone going home a bit more emotional now that we have really gotten to know the girls more. I've always wished it was this way. Even if they don't do the whole fake chop next season they should at least make the first episode a no elimination and the top two lip sync for a cash amount.

@@JanAquaSun I do feel like most of the recent seasons there has been one grace period episode where no one went home and they had a big celebrity guest. Though maybe season 12 they didn't do that? I don't even remember. But I like this even better. I am more invested now. There are some seasons of Drag Race where I don't even remember the first few girls who went home. At least these 13 girls have a bit more time to make an impression (though to be honest I'm old so I will probably forget them by next year). I understand where Bob and Monet are coming from as winners of Drag Race they just wanted to see girls get sent home when they were competing.
