being haitian-american i LOVE these clips so much, i 100000% get when monet says that st. lucian accents aren't very distinctive and are hard to imitate because it's the same with haitian accents, i love doing accents but i could never do a haitian accent in a million years even though it's in my ears all day every day. she's nothing short of correct when she says the only extremely distinctive caribbean accents are bajan, jamaican, and trinny

So I (a Canadian living in Canada) went to school with a guy who’s now a famous actor in Pakistan. He grew up in Canada, so obviously when we were in high school, he had a Canadian accent. Not even a twinge of a Pakistani accent. When he made it big in Pakistan and did English interviews, I noticed he had a THICK Pakistani accent. But when he comes back to Canada, poof! It’s gone! It’s just that he’s speaking different dialects of English. When he’s in Pakistan and needs to use English, he uses it the way Pakistanis use it. And when he’s in Canada, he uses it the way Canadians use it. I imagine it’s the same with Monet.
